Wildvine is the Project Re; Bit version of the canon alien with the same name. Like all Project Re; Bit aliens, he is redesigned and has a few changes/additions to his powerset.
Appearance[]
Wildvine is now a dark green color, his arms almost as long as his legs, his fingertips having gained what appear to be very small claws on his fingertips, but upon closer inspection they are actually revealed to be teeth, splitting his vine-like skin slightly. They are able to retract if need be. He has large oval-shaped patches on his arms, being a reddish-brown color that spikes out to the sides. Each patch has faint white lines moving out from under them. His upper forearms are twisted until reaching the shoulders. His shoulders have grassy moss growing on them, but in reality, they are fully flexible and once they're elevated, they reveal two glowing green orbs embedded in each shoulder, surrounded by a black ring. These orbs are in fact secondary eyes.
Wildvine retains his large flytrap-like collar, though it appears to be almost rotting, small white spots present on the outside and small hexagonal protrusions visible on the lower end of the flytrap's interior. The teeth lining it are large and yellow. Wildvine's head lies within the center of the flytrap. A mossy head of hair rests on his head, hanging over his large green eye.
Moving down to his torso, he has a sideways hourglass pattern, which can be interpreted as a bowtie. The areas to the side of his torso are darkened, looking similar to a jacket suit. Wildvine's legs are longer than usual, so there are multiple knots along them to show they've been tied together.
Transformation Sequence[]
A green orb of energy flies across the screen at high speeds, the symbol of a DNA Helix present within. It rapidly begins to morph and change, exploding outwards and sending powerful ripples across the screen. A silhouetted Ben floats with his arms to his sides. A close-up shot of his hand reveals it to be overtaken by vines, which quickly combine with his skin, long slender fingers twitching. Ben's face slowly begins to shift, only for two massive flytrap-like jaws to bite down on it. Ben spins around, the features of his arms changing as well, two glowing green orbs on his shoulders while black pods rip out of his back. He rips the flytrap open, revealing Wildvine's fully changed head, his eye glowing brightly.
Ben's legs split, spikes appearing on them as they grow long, retracting themselves and wrapping together, multiple knots being formed as a result. Wildvine slams his legs onto the ground, posing with one arm outstretched in front of him, a massive smile on his face revealing his teeth.
Personality[]
Wildvine now has much more of a pronounced personality, acting like a sassy show stage host as his outfit would imply. He also taunts his opponents to great effect, which can usually turn the tide of battle in his favor.
Powers and Abilities[]
The most notable “ability” of Wildvine is the pungent smell he gives off upon being transformed into. It stings the nostrils upon inhaling and can cause the unprepared to gag. The smell is compared to that of a “rotting corpse”. Wildvine can change how he smells with a simple thought, though he usually forgets to do this.
Wildvine is able to merge himself into various forms of plant life, hiding within them and popping out for a surprise attack or simply for the purpose of stealth. Through the years, Ben has learned he can incorporate other aspects of plants into himself without merging with them. For example, he can make his arm as hard as bark by interacting with a tree.
Wildvine is able to stretch various parts of his body, down to his fingers, and use them for purposes such as ensnaring. If any of his limbs are severed, he can regenerate them without much of an issue.
Wildvine can coil his limbs up like a spring and unfold them when he hits something, adding an extra punch to his attacks.
Using the pods on his back, Wildvine can toss them with a variety of effects. They are able to explode, create a variety of gases (both lethal and non-lethal) as well as generate vines.
By using his legs, Wildvine can tunnel underground. He can also send his legs into the ground and have them travel through it.
Weaknesses[]
Wildvine is a very versatile alien and doesn't have many weaknesses.
Because of his plant physiology, Wildvine is vulnerable to fire and extreme colds.
Species & Planet Info[]
Wildvine is a Florauna originating from the jungle-like hunting ground of Flors Verdance. Eat or be eaten is the only rule on the planet, and you can bet that it's enforced as well. Flors Verdance is populated by megaflora and megafauna, gigantic plants, and animals roaming through the thick and thin that the planet offers. They prey on the much smaller lifeforms on the planet, which brings us to the smartest yet most feral hunts of the jungle, The Florauna.
The Florauna are not fighters by any means, no. They are tacticians who see that all-out brawls with the other natives would simply be a waste of energy. A Florauna rarely has to even try when it wants a meal, as the only thing it does is...
Wait.
See, Florauna give off a very pungent smell, almost like that of a corpse. This smell lures in many of the other predators, which would in most cases be a disadvantage, but not to the Florauna. By using their ability to combine with other plants, they hide in plain sight and wait for the unsuspecting creatures to be lured in. When that happens, it's over within a few moments. The Florauna leaps out, sending its many teeth into the creature's body, clenching down into its flesh. They then dig right in with their razor-sharp vines, tearing into the creature's body and killing them within seconds. Just like that, dinner is served for the typical Florauna, and others are soon to come...
Trivia[]
- Wildvine's redesign and new "dead corpse" concept was inspired by the Corpse Flower, a flower named for the smell it emits, which as you could probably guess, smells like a rotten corpse.
- Wildvine's personality was made in contrast to his generally scary abilities and appearance, a fun-loving show host that could possibly rip you apart in seconds.
