Plot[]
(News Reporter): It's been 5 and a half years since the Bellwood Incident, the devastating alien attack that wiped out most of the United States' Eastern Seaboard. To this day, nobody knows for sure who exactly caused this incident, or what kind of weapon was used, but we know that the town of Bellwood, Virginia was ground zero. But thanks to the Plumbers, a covert organization specializing in alien activity that has access to galactic-wide resources, the Eastern United States has been rebuilt better than ever. Some say it now looks like a world from the future, with its buildings and technology being maybe centuries more advanced than the rest of the world. The U.S. has continued to expand its futuristic-looking aesthetic, with construction now at work around Mount Rushmore's Plumbers' HQ, due to the influx of alien migrants now feeling okay to visit Earth. The Plumbers have also established Earthly contact with multiple alien planets. Even though the human population is actually almost back to what it once was before the Incident, the trauma will forever remain. Wishing to speak about the Incident in his first-ever interview since the Incident, is the legendary hero Benjamin Tennyson.
(Ben): I... I don't know where to begin, really.
(Reporter): Let's talk a bit about you first, since it's been so long since you've ever given an interview. How's the hero life these days?
(Ben): I've been very busy. Obviously trying to find the culprits of the Bellwood Incident but as of yet, we've had no real leads. I've been doing other hero stuff of course, though.
(Reporter): Which heroes have you been using these days?
(Ben): Oh, I'm not limited to 10 or whatever the internet has been saying recently. I mean, a couple times I was limited, but I've bypassed that. I have thousands of aliens that I cycle through. I don't use one any more than another...
(Reporter): ...Ben? You trailed off there.
(Ben): Oh, sorry. I just realized... I think I may be using 10,000 aliens now. Huh.
(Reporter): That's quite a milestone!
(Ben): More than you'll ever know. It's... something I've wondered ever since I was a kid. When I'd reach this point. May have to change my name.
(Reporter): From Benjamin Tennyson?
(Ben): No, I mean my hero name... you know what, never mind.
(Reporter): So...
(Ben): ...yeah?
(Reporter): Sorry, I'm just getting a breaking news story.
(Ben): Really?
(Reporter): It... it seems as if... do I have this right? Yeah. The citizens of Pluto are... revolting?
(Ben): WHAT?
(Reporter): Yes... now that we have contact with multiple planets, including Pluto, we can confirm... oh my.
(Ben): What? What's wrong?
(Reporter): It seems to be pretty violent.
(Ben): Man, what a way to end the year.
(Reporter): Ha! Yep, certainly didn't have this on my New Year's Eve bingo card. I assume you have to-
(Ben): Yeah yeah, it's hero time.
Ben leaves. On the way out, he calls Gwen on his cell phone.
(Gwen): I just saw the interview.
(Ben): Yeah, I'll head to Pluto right now, but that's not why I'm calling.
(Gwen): Really? What's more important than the "Plutonian Revolt of 2022"?
(Ben): ...what?
(Gwen): Nothing. Just making a joke. Seriously, what's up?
(Ben): ...it's almost 2023. It's been a long time since the Bellwood Incident. I know it has, I've unlocked so many aliens. I'm almost ready to call myself Ben 10,000.
(Gwen): Whoa, really? Ben, that's...
(Ben): But I'm not getting older.
(Gwen): ...what?
(Ben): Gwen... I don't just look young. I'm stuck in time. Azmuth has run tests on me... biologically, I'm still 17 years-old.
