Vinegrade is the combination of Upgrade and Wildvine's DNA. He can only be accessed using the Biomnitrix. This fusion is also possible using an omnitrix with a broken faceplate, however, it might differ in aspects such as appearance, powers and weaknesses.
Appearance[]
Vinegrade resembles a tentacled Galvanic Mechamorph with a single organic eye overrun by plants.
Powers and Abilities[]
Vinegrade has the ability to merge with and possess any plant, fungus, or technology by turning his body into mechanical vines and enveloping it. The size of the device or life form is not significant and he controls it as naturally as he would his own body. When he merges, his black and green cybernetic vine pattern spreads across the target's surface to fit its proportions; although he also has the ability to perfectly replicate the device or life form's original colors.
Vinegrade can merge with multiple plants, fungi, or gadgets at once, although the maximum size of each object decreases the more objects he is merged with.
Vinegrade's DNA is "programmed" with blueprints and intimate knowledge of every alien technology, every fungus, and every plant species in the Milky Way. This allows him to enhance any plants he is possessing into advanced mutant strains with cybernetic characteristics. Vinegrade can transform the plants he is possessing with seemingly no limit, such as converting them into monstrous carnivorous plants, insidious vegetable-based traps, cybernetic plants loaded with heavy weaponry, plants that produce toxic chemical gas, or plants thatg explode on touch. He can also reconfigure his constructs at will to suit any situation, from summoning arsenals of heavy energy weapons, sharp teeth, and extra limbs, to changing their shape completely. If Upgrade possesses a computer, control terminal, or botanical/fungal hive-mind, he can read local information from it, hack it, and manipulate it to execute commands as he wishes, even over entire networks.
Vinegrade can combine any machines and plants he is merged with to create biomechanical creations. Any changes he makes to technology or plants are permanent, and do not go away when he times out.
Like his components, Vinegrade can fit through small spaces, regenerate from most forms of damage, fire optic lasers, stretch out parts of his body over long distances, and create or control constructs made of vines.
Vinegrade can produce all the same effects from his spore pods as Wildvine. In addition, he can create EMP spore pods, electric spore pods, incendiary spore pods, nanobot spore pods, and various other technological effects.
Vinegrade can, while merged with its creations, adapt to gain resistance to their weaponry. For instance, if attatching flamethrowers to a carnivorous plant, it gains some resistance to fire.
Vinegrade can communicate with all forms of plants, fungi, and machines.
Weaknesses[]
Vinegrade is especially susceptible to fire. Even a normal Earth Flamethrower can do serious damage to him unless he is actively adapting a construct to use fire.
Vinegrade is also very susceptible to ice and cold based attacks, corrosive attacks, and electric attacks by default, although not to the same degree.
Intelligent plants and machines can fight off the will of Vinegrade. In addition, Vinegrade's changes being permanent may have unintended side effects when he changes back. Plants he created as weapons may come to life and attack his allies. Some modifications he can make to a plant will cause it to die after he unmerges from it. Alternatively, he may be tricked into giving permanent upgrades to a villain or monster.
Vinegrade has a limited ability to modify technology alone. He can only make true changes to it by merging it with a plant.
Attempting to merge with an Armageddon Flower will result in a catastrophic malfunction that causes the flower to mutate, grow, and gain power at an unimaginable rate. If a free Florauna/Mechamorph hybrid were to do this, it would be killed and permanently assimilated into the Armageddon Flower. If someone transformed into Vinegrade were to do this, it would remove both the Galvanic Mechamorph and the Florauna samples from the Omnitrix permanently, cause severe electrical backlash to the wearer, and horribly damage the Omnitrix itself.
Plot Hooks[]
Since I am no longer actively working on a Concept Series, I will instead suggest possible uses for each alien form in plot hooks.
- Malware has returned, and strives to use Ben's Vinegrade transformation to assimilate both Galvan Prime and Flors Verdance.
- Khyber has acquired a new and improved nemetrix that can adapt to any form Ben has in his omnitrix. He needs to come up with a form that can adapt equally quickly.
- While on his cosmic voyage, Ben encounters two feuding species. One is made of plants and one is mechanical in nature. One is incapable of understanding logic, and the other is incapable of feeling emotion. Each one seems incomplete in some way: almost like they used to be one species.
- When Ben 23 inadvertently activates his Armageddon Flower form, Prime Ben attempts to use Vinegrade to calm him down. This instead creates a calamity even Alien X may struggle to stop.
- After that fiasco, a new villain shows up wielding mysterious technology. Ben has a plan to defeat them, but it requires both Wildvine and Upgrade, both of which he lost...
Trivia[]
- I did not come up with the design for this alien: the design came from DNA Lab, a defunct flash game. This fusion just seemed like it would have an interesting combination of powers.
- This is a Free Use Alien, although if you use my version of this alien, I would appreciate if you credited me.
