| Welcome, friends!
It’s been a very difficult past 2 weeks for me. I hope it’s been better for the rest of you. We just passed Christmas, a new year is hours away, and we just celebrated 16 years of the franchise we know and love – Ben 10! I have some big announcements surrounding some stuff I’m working on, both in the Alien Universe and out of it. First off, some might have seen a new article called DC's Ben 10. I’ve always wanted to see what Ben in the DC Universe would look like – especially after Dwayne McDuffie, who was one of the creators of the DC comics character Static Shock, worked on UAF. I have a lot to say about this upcoming crossover series, but for now, I’ll say this much: Expect to see the original origin story of a 10 year old Ben wrapped together with the origins of other DC favorites. Ultimately, I hope to have a series that also feels like the 2000s Justice League or Justice League Unlimited. Season 1 is set to heavily feature Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent, while on a series-wide level, I’m looking to see what a universe with both the Plumbers and Green Lantern Corps looks like. A series preview is coming; expect to see this and the actual show in 2022. [Before I continue, a HEAP of Spoilers Ahead!] Second, I’m proud to announce a brand new series in the Alien Universe – and the final one that is in the pipeline for the franchise. Like Cassette, it’s another prequel. The Golden Years will follow the early Plumber years of Max Tennyson, alongside his first (long-term) partner Phil, while he navigates keeping the Plumber secret from his young kids Carl and Frank, who no longer have a caretaker after Max’s sister Vera stops helping out so she can focus on her own life. Inspired by a variety of older sitcoms, most notably Full House, it’s meant as a lighthearted little cap on the franchise 😊 It is honestly probably not going to drop until late 2022 or 2023 so this is early to talk about. (I’ve got no news for Cassette just yet, but tune in a little bit of the ways into Season 3 of BiA!) Third, we’ve got the upcoming second season finale of Back in Action: Alien Universe. This has been a long time coming – the series started 9 years ago and will likely be wrapping up soon before its 10 year anniversary in August. There have been a lot of breaks, but I’m happy to see the season and series at-large going full-speed ahead (or at least as full-speed as it can with work/school/my amazing girlfriend/life deserving my attention as well). There’s plenty of cool stories left to tell here, which will continue with Malevolence and Never Set in Stone in January, which pretty much serves as the two parts of the “Out of the Cooler” finale event. Fourth, the third season of Back in Action: Alien Universe is on the way! I’m super excited for this but trying to keep my eyes on the road ahead – MALV and NSIS are priority one. But after we’re done with those, we’re looking forward to 8 episodes at the new shorter lengths that I’ve been doing. First in the batch will be the season 3 premiere episode – titled Adrift. At the end of the line will be the season 3 and series finale Time is of the Essence (fun fact: has been the planned title for the finale since 2013!). Here’s a peak at what to expect in Season 3! ‘’He tips his hat to the alternate present.’’ ‘’The second alternate Ben is slowly covered, starting at the chest, by Galvanic Mechamorph skin. When his whole body is changed, he grows twice as tall and bulkier, like he was wearing a suit of armor.’’ ‘’He turns his head to the alternate Gwen.’’ ‘’She nods, Super Ben fist-bumping her.’’ ‘’Everyone turns to her.’’ ‘’She refers to the Ben that is on all fours, head to the ground, knocking and listening in to it.’’ ‘’This third alternate Ben doesn’t respond, instead getting up and beginning to rapidly punch at the ground. Mind you, he is in fact in human form and not Armodrillo or something logical.’’ ‘’As though he’d just sprouted ears, they wiggle. He twirls around and faces everybody. His hair is a mess and matches the color and condition of his pants. Somehow, his green-accented white sweater is spotless, even though white is a terrible color for a rumble.’’ Yep. Benjection meets Back in Action in 2022. Now that’s from the second episode of Season 3. Before that, in the first episode, we’re going to see a lot of change. This will be the catalyst for Gwen and Kevin moving to their own show (Seventeen in College), instead of appearing in the rest of Season 3. And now that the episodes Dusk and Escalation have passed, I can happily share that Mercedes Barnes/Dawn and Aion will be joining Seventeen in College as regular characters. Expect to learn about what makes magic magic, with appearances from Darkstar, Verdona, Azmuth, Zennith, Charmcaster, Sir George, and Chelsey. A proper series synopsis will be coming soon as well. When the show drops, though, I very strongly recommend this be read alongside Season 3 as episodes drop – it’s not absolutely necessary, but it will massively improve understanding when BiA closes, as its ending is after SiC’s. The episodes are not expected to be as long as BiA eps, but they are the very necessary conclusions for these characters in the AU (again, Cassette and TGY are prequels, so there’s no plans to see these exact versions of the characters further). There is more I would love to talk about, but unfortunately there are a few more milestones in BiA we need to get to before I can talk more about what’s to come and some things need to be seen live. Various life events – along with school and work – have pushed back my timelines (if you check my blog, you’ll see MALV/NSIS were due this month… interesting how that turned out lol). Can’t wait to share the full finished products of all that’s to come. Finishing Back in Action is my top priority. In 2022, we make that happen. |
