The Human Enigma is part one of a story by Alan.
Plot
[Darkness.]
[Silence.]
[Both of these were interrupted by the mechanical sliding sound of doors opening, which poured light into the dark room. It revealed who appeared to be a young woman in a black and white jump suit cowering in the corner, covering her eyes from the blinding light. The room's light itself cut on, and a figure stepped into the newly lit up blue and silver room. The figure was an Incursean decked in purple clothing with golden garbs. The door closed behind him and he pulled out a small device, clicking a button on it.]
Incursean: Commander Croar, questioning number thirteen. Subject name: Finn. Pronouns: They/Them. Assigned biological sex: Female.
[Croar sat on the ground with his legs crossed, setting the recording device down next to him.]
Croar: I'm going to ask you this one last time, Finn. Where did you come from?
[Finn scowled back at him, remaining silent.]
Croar: I'm trying to help you, Finn. You help me, and I can help you. I can't do that if you don't give me something to work with.
Finn: ...I've told you every time already.
Croar: You haven't told us anything. The only answer you've given us doesn't work.
Finn: I-I can't help where I was born.
Croar: No. But you can help whether you're lying.
Finn: I'm not lying, damnit!
Croar: Finn!
[Finn looked away from him, still disguntled.]
Croar: [sighs] I've told you this every time: there's just no possible way you're where you say you're from.
Finn: Yeah? Well. That's where I'm from. So. Fuck off.
Croar: No, it isn't.
Finn: And why not?! You all keep telling me that can't be my home, but you won't tell me why! How is it I'm not where I say I'm from?!
Croar: Because Earth hasn't been around in hundreds of years!
[Silence fell over the room as Finn stared back at Croar in bewilderment with quivering eyes.]
Finn: Wh-What?
Croar: Earth stopped being here a long time ago. And since then, there hasn't been a single sign of human life in the galaxy. That is until you show up, claiming to be one from a planet that's been gone for ages. Though, I think we both know better.
Finn: What do you mean "gone"?! Planets don't just go away!
Croar: Tell that to Galileans.
Finn: I-I don't understand! What happened to Earth?! What happened to my home?!
Croar: You're persistant, I'll give you that. I just poked the biggest hole in your claim, and you're still sitting here saying you're from Earth.
Finn: You've ran how many DNA tests on me by now? They all should've said I'm human.
Croar: They do, but DNA tests are always done with grains of salt. For all we know, you're the result of a Cellopod prank gone too far. Where's your dispair for your family, hm? Friends?
[Finn looked away from him, covering their face some.]
Finn: I... wasn't exactly that close with... anybody. At all.
[Croar's face remained skeptical as he grabbed his recording device and stood up.]
Croar: Uh-huh. Commander Croar's thirteenth subject questioning complete. Outcome: Inconclusive. Will commence fourteenth session... at a later date. Signing off.
[The scene went staticy before cutting back to black.]
