The Prototype 'Omnimatrix', called simply the Omnitrix is a watch-like device, used by Kalin.
Appearance[]
In the first form that Kalin encountered, the Omnitrix looked like a large wristwatch, primarily black and grey in color, with a grey dial in the middle resembling a watch face that has a green hourglass shape on it. As time went on, the watch began to slowly recalibrate itself and Kalin figured out the customization function, changing the core's primary color from green to blue.
After its first recalibration, the Omnitrix took a slimmer and sleeker watch-like shape and the two tubes on the side facing toward Kalin disappeared.
After its second recalibration, the Omnitrix's tubes disappeared completely and its wristband turned primary black with two blue lines nearly the core. The biggest change from the device's previous forms is that when Kalin selects aliens, they show up as holograms standing over the core instead of being silhouettes inside the hourglass.

Malfunctions[]
- Using the quick-transformation can cause the Omnitrix to overheat, shutting down most of its functions.
- When exposed to electromagnetic interference, the Omnitrix can mistransform the user, if they are trying to access the main function.
Modes[]
Active Mode is the Omnitrix 's default mode. Normally Active Mode is active when the Omnitrix can be used and nothing is wrong. The actual usage time is 15 minutes, but If the user changes from one form to another, due to the Omnitrix's failsafe, several minutes of its remaining active time would be depleted
Recharge Mode's main purpose is to keep the Omnitrix from damaging the user. Recharge Mode is activated when the Omnitrix runs out of time. It takes around 10-15 minutes if the watch timed-out normally and up to several hours if it overheated.
Scan Mode is used to scan new DNA by being near the alien it detects.

Trivia[]
- Unlike its advanced counterpart, the Omnitrix doesn't have the feature that allows the user to make advanced customizations to the clothing worn by the various alien forms.
- The Omnitrix can't scan items such as clothes, or weapons, nor is it capable of creating replicas using spare energy.
- Zarmaruk hasn't tweaked the device while it was in his hands, thanks to which the Omnitrix works as intended.
