Omni-Switched is the twenty-first episode of Ben 10: Omniorigins, as well as the second episode of the second season.
Plot[]
Ben and Stuart are chasing an android carrying a case of diamonds it had stolen from a jewellery store. As the android nearly escapes them, Ben activates the Omnitrix and transforms into his new alien, Chicolt. Chicolt uses the streetlights to swing and catch up to the android before firing an egg that trips it. The android attempts to grab the case, but it is magnetised to Stuart, and Chicolt lands on it instead.
After dismantling the android before passing the evidence to the police, Chicolt and Stuart fly to the top of a building just as the Omnitrix times out. Stuart compliments Ben on how he is getting better at using Chicolt, though Ben simply claims that it’s because of his ability to learn quicker. Stuart doubts this, but Ben gets upset and begins turning the Omnitrix dial intending to prove to Stuart that he could use any new alien he gets on the fly. Worried that this idea seems reckless, Stuart attempts to stop it, but Ben had already transformed into a new alien.
The alien is short, chubby and yellow, leading Ben to claim it’s a Dummy Bag, and uses it for the alien’s name. Stuart laughs at the funny appearance of the alien, leading Dummy Bag to try and attack him. Unfortunately, his body shape and weight makes it harder for him to move, as he even struggles to hop. Stuart just claims that he’ll time out soon, and proceeds to try and take him back to The Fictioverse, though Dummy Bag’s weight makes it extremely difficult to carry him.
Upon arriving at The Fictioverse, Stuart quickly rushes to the fridge just as Dummy Bag turns back into Ben. After drinking a soda in exhaustion, Stuart jokingly claims that Ben should lose weight. Ben decides to try and get an alien that would be easier to learn from, and begins tampering with the Omnitrix again. Stuart strongly advises against this, but Ben continues rotating the dial until a large surge of energy emerges from the Omnitrix. When it disappears, the Omnitrix starts crackling green electricity, leading Stuart to think that it was broken.
Ben checks the Omnitrix, and claims that it was working normally, showcasing all of his aliens looking normal. Before they could say anything else, the duo hear a commotion outside and rush to investigate. Seeing a large mechanical octopus, Stuart deduces that it was Steam Smythe, and believes that the android earlier was related to him due to the technology the android was made of. Ben decides to beat Smythe quickly, and proceeds to turn into Powerpipe. Upon completing his transformation, Powerpipe and Stuart are confused to see Powerpipe in an alternate colour. Unsure of what it means, Powerpipe decides to learn on the way.
As he attempts to run to face the mechanical octopus, Powerpipe is surprised to see himself running at an average speed. Confused, Powerpipe decides to try and blast the octopus, but is unable to do so. One of the octopus’ tentacles nearly crushes Powerpipe, but he is saved by Stuart, who asks about his powers. Powerpipe looks at himself again, and remembers that his colours resemble Slamurai’s, implying that the duo somehow got not just their colour schemes swapped, but their powers too. Stuart believes that this is because the Omnitrix was damaged by Ben, leading him to doubt his actions.
The Clocktopus (the mechanical octopus named by Stuart) begins to make its way to the Bellwood Reinstation Prison, making Stuart believe that it was not piloted by Smythe, but rather made to free him should he ever be incarcerated. Powerpipe isn’t willing to give up easily, and decides to test his power theory by transforming into Slamurai, who had Powerpipe’s colour scheme. Slamurai begins rushing to the Clocktopus with Powerpipe’s speed, but his short legs and rotund body causes him to trip and crash several times. Slamurai turns back into Ben, who condemns himself for his previous mistake. Stuart comforts him, reminding him that the reason Ben made his mistake was because he was trying to prove that he could learn how to use his aliens quickly.
Hearing this, Ben gets an idea and asks Stuart to write out all 12 of his aliens' names on a holographic board. Working quickly, Ben turns into a Transmelt (with Thornhenge’s colour scheme), Bombadrag (with Grapplight’s colour scheme), and Hammerhack (with Anatacles’ colour scheme). After turning into Hammerhack, he explains to Stuart how two of his aliens are switched, meaning that he can’t use some of their powers because of their body shapes. But if he could find out which alien was mixed with Hammerhack, then he could use Hammerhack’s intelligence to try and fix the Omnitrix.
Stuart is proud of Ben’s idea, but before Hammerhack could turn into Anatacles, the duo hear the Clocktopus attacking, forcing them to rush over to it. Upon arriving at the prison, they see the Clocktopus nearly succeeding in freeing Steam Smythe, and rush into action. Attempting to punch the Clocktopus, Hammerhack is relieved to discover that he possesses Anatacles’ shapeshifting powers, enabling him to subdue the Clocktopus and have Stuart damage it easily. One of the tentacles knocks Stuart out of the sky, enraging Hammerhack, prompting him to stop the Clocktopus faster. He proceeds to transform into Constrictaconda, who uses Mellter’s powers to melt the Clocktopus down.
As he slowly descends, Stuart recovers, and sees Constrictaconda’s clothes beginning to melt. Stuart warns him, as the Omnitrix could melt as it was made for Meltter, not Constrictaconda. Acting quickly, Constrictaconda slams his body onto the ground, causing the Omnitrix to turn him into Anatacles. As per their deduction, Anatacles has Hammerhack’s colour scheme, meaning that he has Hammerhack’s intelligence. WIth this knowledge, Anatacles begins fixing the Omnitrix, causing him to eventually return to his normal colours and powers. The Omnitrix then times out after that.
Ben sees Stuart and claims that he’s glad the latter is okay. Stuart admits that he’s just glad Ben overcame his recklessness and fixed his mistake. Ben admits that he was honestly gambling to turn into a Meltter-based alien due to the low probability he would get the right alien. Stuart simply sighs, but hopes Ben would be more patient and unlock more aliens sparingly. Ben agrees, and decides to fly home with Stuart. Unfortunately, he turns into Dummy Bag again, much to the dismay of the duo.
