Morty graduated from the Plumbers' Academy 12 years prior to the beginning of the series. He made several friends during his time at the Academy, including Bryk, who would later become his closest friend. They graduated at the same time and were stationed on Aeropela before being transferred to the Bellwood branch on Earth.
