Michelangelo (Mikey) is a mutant turtle from Earth and a protagonist in Ben 10/Justice League: The Series. He is the youngest of the original four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Appearance[]
Mikey resembles a humanoid turtle, with yellow-green skin, green eyes, a brown shell, four fingers, and three toes.
Mikey wears an orange bandanna on his head with eyeholes for him to see through, a brown strap wrapped around his shell like a sash and another like a belt, brown braces on his elbows and knees, thick yellow bandages on his wrists and feet, which expose his toes, and white bandages around his fingers.
Mikey's nunchaku are mounted on his waist.
History[]
Michelangelo was one of four turtles, the others being Leonardo, Donatello, and Raphael, who walked into a puddle of mutagen that spilled into the sewers of New York. As the mutagen began taking effect, transforming the turtles into mutants, a cat attempted to hunt the turtles, only to be fought off by the ninja Hamato Yoshi, who had been exposed to the same mutagen and transformed into a mutant rat.
Yoshi, who changed his name to Splinter, took the turtles in as his sons and named all of them after painters from the Renaissance. In Mikey's case, his name came from the sculptor Michelangelo. Alongside the rest of his brothers, Mikey would learn ninjutsu from Splinter and develop a fondness for pizza, though Mikey loved it the most out of all of them. Mikey would develop a carefree, playful personality that set him apart from his brothers, though Splinter would often encourage him to take his duties seriously and become more mature.
Bringing a cheerful air with him, Mikey would join his brothers as they bravely ventured into the streets of New York above them to serve as heroes for the city, as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. They fought many enemies, including the Kraang, the ones who brought the mutagen to Earth, as well as the Foot Clan, helmed by Yoshi's former adoptive brother Oroku Saki, now Shredder. They would also have a complicated stance toward the cat they encountered, now a mutant cat named Old Hob who led the Mighty Mutanimals, another group of mutants. Many of the enemies they faced would take on a codename that Mikey would often come up with for them with his imagination. They would also meet new allies, these being teenage investigator April O'Neil and teenage vigilante Casey Jones.
At one point, Mikey, alongside the rest of the turtles, would meet an acquaintance of Yoshi and Saki, Bruce Wayne, who fought crime in Gotham as the vigilante Batman, and they would work together to battle enemies in New York, and sometimes also Gotham.
Personality[]
Mikey is playful and loves fun. As the most lighthearted of all his brothers, he acts as the life of the party, joking around a lot and sometimes pulling harmless pranks, mainly on Donnie and Raph. This also makes him very childish and immature, much to the annoyance of all three of his brothers. Underneath his playfulness, Mikey still cares a lot about his brothers, loyal to them and capable of getting serious when he needs to be, often showing an optimistic side to keep his brothers encouraged and full of hope.
While all the turtles enjoy pizza, Mikey has a greater fondness for it than his brothers, to the point of it being his favorite food he regularly eats. He also has a great imaginative mind, which Mikey often uses to imagine fantastical situations and inventive solutions to problems his family faces, and to come up with codenames for the enemies he and his brothers fight against. When in battle, Mikey proves very resilient against evil, keeping a smile up and refusing to back down against many enemies.
Powers and Abilities[]
Mikey is a skilled combatant, able to defeat many foes in hand-to-hand combat, thanks to the training Splinter gave him. He is proficient in martial arts, mainly the form of ninjutsu, allowing him to be stealthy as a ninja. Mikey is also skilled at wielding nunchaku, wielding a pair that can change into kusarigama.
Mikey is a skilled skateboarder, often seen using a skateboard in order to move around quickly. He also possesses a great imagination, which he uses for coming up with solutions to problems and for coming up with codenames for enemies.
Thanks to his mutated biology, Mikey possesses great strength, stamina, agility, and reflexes, beyond those of the average un-enhanced human or even an ordinary turtle, allowing him to endure prolonged battles and dodge his enemies' attacks. Mikey also has a high pain tolerance as a result of his carefree mind, making him resilient to most wounds he receives.
Equipment[]
Mikey wields two nunchaku, which can be transformed into kusarigama, as his primary weapon in battle. In addition to these, he carries shurikens, smoke bombs, and grappling hooks.
Weaknesses[]
Mikey's immaturity can sometimes lead to poor decision-making and reckless actions in battle. His playfulness can often make him easily distracted in dire situations, and his humorous side, while mostly used as a defense mechanism, often makes it harder for him to take things seriously.
Mikey lacks the discipline and focus that is present in his brothers, which can make it harder for him in many situations where these are needed. He is also very reliant on his nunchaku, making it not as easy for him to adapt to situations where these weapons are not as suitable for battle with certain enemies, or even if he were to be disarmed of the weapons.
