Magic in Alien Universe

Magic is a concept that exists in all timelines and whose functions play a prominent role in the Alien Universe franchise.

History

The origin of magic is unknown.

An ancient magician known as Bezel was once key to the creation of the powerful Charms of Bezel.

In Back in Action: Alien Universe, Aion is the first to demonstrate the ability to play with time via magic and mana.

Use

Magic involves the use of mana, which flows from Ledgerdomain into all living creatures. Some non-living life (ie. most life from the Anur System) do not possess mana, but instead prey on it. Dark magic exists, typically deriving from the absorption/theft of others' mana.

There exist some natively energy beings who classify as mana come alive. Only two species are known to act like this.

Common Spells

• A mind meld is a simple function that does not require a spoken encantation or additional tools. It allows the user to enter the mind of another user. Though express consent is not needed, the end user, whose mind is being entered, must continue to not refuse entry into their mind for this spell to function, so it is difficult to abuse, though it is suggested in Plight of Pinocchio that it is common for energy beings to attempt to enter people's minds with this. It has been used by Chelsey Tennyson on Charmcaster and both successfully used and unsuccessfully attempted by Gwen Tennyson.
• Quotendus is a spell commonly used by Gwen Tennyson to split herself into multiple equally-sized, though derivatively powered, bodies.
• A family signature can be detected on anyone infused with mana. In Foreverlasting, an alternate Diagon and Jolly Roger were able to use this to detect that Eli was acting as Georgius.

Trivia

• It is unknown if Celestialsapiens possess mana.
• Mana is a factor in how Caballus Stallius, Healding's species, heals and performs revivals. As such, beings without mana (some from the Anur System for example, or artificial beings like Galvanic Mechamorphs) are restricted from help. Thus, they are also unable to be healed magically.
