First Appearance Ways to Say Goodbye

Kevin Ethan Levin (born November 23, 1993) is the tritagonist of Ben 10: Missing Pieces and Ben 10: Protector of the Omniverse. He first appeared in Ways to Say Goodbye. He is a human/Osmosian hybrid from the planet Earth and a member of Alien Force. He is the Timeline 1 equivalent of the canon Kevin.

Appearance[]

Regular Appearances[]

In Ways to Say Goodbye, 11-year-old Kevin had his original series appearance.

In Crossroads and Up to 11, 16-year-old Kevin had his Heroes United appearance.

In Protector of the Omniverse, 20-year-old Kevin has his Heroes United appearance, but with his original series hairstyle. He wears a bluish grey hoodie with a white collar and white sleeves. It has an image of two intersecting spanners, with the number '11' in black in the middle of them. The hoodie is zipped halfway, revealing a black T-shirt underneath. He also wears grey pants, along with bluish grey boots.

His colors match the color palette of Heroes United.

Occasional Appearances[]

Kevin sometimes wears a Plumber suit on missions.

Personality[]

Due to a complicated childhood and having supernatural abilities at a young age, Kevin exhibited psychopathic tendencies and was willing to hurt or kill anyone for his personal gain. This stemmed from being treated like a freak by his peers and family and was only exacerbated by the negative mental side effects he experienced whenever he absorbed too much energy. This caused Kevin to live with many insecurities about himself; he would embrace his "freak" title while also being paranoid of other people using it against him. His paranoia would progress to the point of considering everyone to be his enemy because, as he put it, "Nobody's innocent! They just haven't had the chance to make fun of me yet!" Kevin thus lived on the streets, committing various crimes and cruel acts of violence; one telling instance of which was attempting to ram a money train into another train carrying passengers, and simply parroting the phrase "no pain, no gain" at the thought of all the innocent lives that would be lost.

Kevin's outlook began to change when he met Kwarrel, a fellow prisoner in the Null Void Incarcecon. Becoming a mentor to him, Kwarrel helped improve Kevin's anger issues and ultimately sacrificed his life to protect him. Kwarrel would forever remain in Kevin's memory, and helped to positively influence his personality.

By Alien Force (and onward), Kevin had changed significantly. Despite having become a con artist and an arms broker, he was much more stable, having developed a mature yet snarky and lax personality, "as cool as they come". No longer so angry, he dropped his big rivalry with Ben (what was previously so important to him) and worked with him and Gwen to honor the dying words of Magister Labrid. Though Kevin was initially untrusting of them, he befriended Ben and fell in love with Gwen during the time they spent together, growing to become a core member of their team. He also developed a respect for Max, whose younger personality Kevin's is said to resemble.

While changed for the better, Kevin still often shows a lawless delinquent side. He cannot resist a good scheme to make money (often with Argit). Despite this side of Kevin, Ben and (especially) Gwen still greatly trust him, and offer him second chances with each break in loyalty. Kevin once told Ben that he is grateful to them for having offered him compassion and changing his life.

Kevin healthily channels his delinquency through a love of cars and automotive engineering. He is extremely protective of his car, always working to improve it, and becomes very upset whenever it gets damaged, which happens on a fairly regular basis when Ben is around.

Kevin is shown to be very good with animals, even without trying. He is a good owner to Zed.

Kevin's morals have also improved since he joined Ben's team. Though he may do unethical things, his conscience is clear. He now shows disgust at those who take advantage of others and the innocent.

Despite having adopted a more positive outlook on life, Kevin still suffers from his old insecurities, which resurface the most when he is mutated.

While he cares for the innocent, Kevin is still willing to kill, either from necessity or his loyalties, and has expressed he would kill any villains that went after his family or the Tennysons.

Kevin is also prone to making blunders.

History[]

Prior to Missing Pieces[]

When Kevin was three years old, his father Devin was killed by Ragnarok. In an effort to make sure Kevin would grow up with a father figure, his mother Hazel married Harvey Hackett several months after Devin's death. Kevin did not take to him, however, as he felt he was trying to replace Devin. This led to them having a strained relationship.

As a young boy, Kevin went to school at New Hope Elementary School. Due to being poor, he was often bullied by his peers. When he was eight, his powers began to manifest and even though Hazel advised him not to use them, he secretly experimented with them when he had the chance.

When he was 10, Kevin accidentally used his powers to destroy his school's computer lab. Although nobody was hurt, Kevin's parents were forced to tell the the school principal about Kevin's powers, though they did not tell her that it was due to his alien heritage.

One day, when Kevin was 11, Kevin's classmate named Cody harassed him. The two eventually started fighting physically, and Kevin used his powers to hurt Cody, resulting in him inflicting burns on his right arm and being admitted to the hospital. Principal Brooks paid Cody's family so they would not reveal the circumstances of his injury, then called Kevin's parents for a meeting.

Missing Pieces[]

In Ways to Say Goodbye, on the same day as the aforementioned event, Principal Brooks told Kevin's parents what had happened, and that she had no choice but to expel him. When the Levin family returned home, Hazel asked him why he used his powers, to which he replied he was defending himself. Kevin grew increasingly agitated as his parents tried to make him see that he needed to control himself better. This escalated to a point where Kevin used his powers to hurt Harvey and damage the house before running away, convinced that his parents did not love him.

Kevin stole a bike from one of his neighbors and traveled out of Bellwood. He later took various train and plane rides before ending up in New York City.

Kevin went through the same events as his canon equivalent as depicted in the episodes Kevin 11, Framed, Grudge Match and Back with a Vengeance.

Sometime after being imprisoned in the Null Void, he was forced to work in Incarcecon. A prisoner named Kwarrel approached him and offered to help him control his anger, revert to normal and find a purpose, after that he learned how to absorb matter. Kwarrel then showed Kevin a tunnel he had been digging out of the Null Void. However, they were ambushed by Morgg, who would one day become the warden. Kwarrel held off Morgg for Kevin to escape, only to lose his life in the process.

In 2008, a 15-year-old Kevin was freed from the Null Void by Gwen and Max. Although it is unknown what happened during this event, it explains why Gwen was so quick to trust him in Alien Force. Eager to start a new life, he illegally bought an apartment in Bellwood and began trading alien technology to make money. After working up the courage, he visited Hazel and apologized for the way things ended between them, but she did not harbor anything against him and even asked him to move back in with her, but he declined. As a way to make it up to her for all he did in his childhood, Kevin bought her a new house.

In 2010, Kevin went through the same events as his canon equivalent as depicted in the first two seasons of Alien Force.

Immediately after War of the Worlds: Part 2, Kevin bought a new car at an auto show and made his relationship with Gwen official.

In Crossroads, Kevin came to Gwen's house, and she told him she received a letter of admission to Friedkin University via their Early Entrance Program. He encouraged her to accept the offer and promised that he would not give up on their relationship, even going so far as to say he was going to move away with her. During their conversation, Gwen accidentally let slip that she knew he did not go to school. He was ashamed, but Gwen quickly assured him that she did not think any less of him for not having a formal education. She brought up the possibility of him getting a GED so that he would be able to get a job and pay rent upon moving away, and stated that she would help him study. She suggested taking things one step at a time, explaining that she would fully make her decision after getting some sleep.

In Up to 11, Myaxx teleported Ben, Gwen and Kevin to Azmuth's lab after Albedo arrived, armed with a new device named the Antitrix, and demanded that Azmuth restore his original form. Ben fought Albedo while Gwen and Kevin heard the story of how the Galvans built Galvan Mark II after the Highbreed destroyed the original Galvan Prime. Gwen persuaded Azmuth to help Albedo return to his original form, saying that he would do no further harm once he achieved his goal. Azmuth eventually agreed and they interrupted Ben and Albedo's fight to deliver the news. Azmuth explained that he did not have the time or patience to build what was necessary to restore his original form, but he could instead unlock the Galvan sample in the Omnitrix and sync the Antitrix with the Omnitrix so that Albedo would gain access to the sample. Albedo reluctantly agreed and Azmuth did what was necessary. Shortly after Albedo turned into a Galvan, he mutated due to the low-quality components he used to build the Antitrix. Ben tried to cure him with the Omnitrix, but was unsuccessful. Blinded by rage, Albedo started blaming Ben, but Ben quickly defended himself, saying he had nothing to do with his decision to create the Antitrix and that he could still make a better future for himself. Impressed with Ben's wisdom, Azmuth re-unlocked all of Ben's previously-used aliens except for Feedback and left the room with Albedo. Ben expressed that he was going to miss Gwen and Kevin (revealing that Gwen ultimately decided to go to Friedkin), but Gwen said they still had some time before that was going to happen and promised to visit on special occasions. The trio then returned to Earth.

Over a month later, Kevin gave Ben the Mark 10 for his 16th birthday. In order to fully put his life of crime behind him, he gave all the illegally-purchased alien technology in his possession to the Plumbers, sold his apartment in Bellwood and rented an apartment five minutes away from Friedkin University. Gwen and Kevin left Bellwood the following January and Kevin started a new job as a mechanic at Paik's Body Shop.

Powers and Abilities[]

Kevin's powers are of alien heritage, courtesy of his father Devin.

Energy Absorption[]

Kevin can absorb the energy of anything. This includes mana.

Kevin can absorb the energy stored in other individuals.

Kevin can also absorb energy by accident.

Kevin can discharge his stored energy by projecting it out of his hands.

Kevin can infuse machines with his stored energy to activate them or overload them.

DNA Absorption[]

Similar to his ability to absorb energy, Kevin can absorb the DNA of other individuals, either directly, remotely, or through devices such as the Infinimatrix. By absorbing DNA, he also gains the individuals' powers and undergoes mutation to accommodate the absorbed abilities.

Kevin can also absorb DNA by accident, as shown when exposure to feedback from the Omnitrix granted him the ability to transform into the aliens unlocked in the active playlist at the time, at the cost of only being able to stay human for a short time.

Kevin can use his body as a conduit for DNA, transferring it from a source to a target.

By absorbing their DNA, Kevin can also drain an individual of their life force.

Matter Absorption[]

Kevin can absorb the matter of anything, with some exceptions from any part of his body. He can even absorb multiple materials at once. Depending on the amount of the absorbed material he has available, and how he distributes it, he can either coat his body, or part of it, in the material as armor, or completely convert his body, or part of it, into a living version of the material. His strength and durability in proportion to the material absorbed.

Kevin can absorb the materialistic properties of living beings such as To'kustars, Petrosapiens, Crystalsapiens and Rock Monsters.

Kevin can also absorb liquids, and when he does, he gains the properties of that liquid. If Kevin absorbs mud, objects will pass through him without causing physical damage. He can even absorb bubblegum and fire.

If Kevin absorbs an elastic material, he can "sort of" stretch.

Kevin can alter his body, such as by generating spikes, spiked finials, and crystals.

Kevin can shapeshift his hands and feet into different weapons and tools, such as battle axes, sickles, cleats, scythes, mallets, shovels, keys, maces (spiked or non-spiked), golf clubs, lances, oars, machetes (serrated or non-serrated), hammers, hooks and blades.

Kevin can merge his hands into one.

Kevin is capable of regenerating and regrowing any damaged or destroyed body parts, allowing him to grow back lost limbs.

Kevin can extend and enlarge his arms.

Kevin can manipulate matter to fill in cracks or holes by releasing a liquid version of whatever material he has absorbed. He can also partially merge with the actual matter and manipulate the substance's form.

Kevin has the ability to spontaneously create more of a given material by absorbing it. This allows him to create an endless supply. By generating matter, Kevin can also create objects.

Kevin can transfer the matter he has absorbed to another individual.

Kevin can also encase others in matter without shedding his own coating. He can also cover others partially instead of completely.

Rubber Form[]

Kevin's body becomes highly elastic when absorbing rubber. He is able to bounce wall from wall, making his movements highly unpredictable, especially in a close quarter fight.

When his rubber coating is burned, a strong stench capable of incapacitating Incurseans is produced.

Varsidium Form[]

When struck, Kevin can amplify sonic vibrations.

Metal Form[]

Kevin is provided with immunity to radiation. Furthermore, if he absorbs the material from carbon rods, he is able to regulate the radiation produced by beings such as Prypiatosian-Bs by absorbing excess neutrons.

Kevin is resistant to high pressures in oceans, such as those on Piscciss.

Stone Form[]

Kevin is resistant to cold temperatures.

Concrete Form[]

Kevin is resistant to strong winds.

Other Skills and Abilities[]

Kevin is a fairly proficient fighter. He doesn't employ a specific martial art in combat, but rather a loose street fighting style, focusing heavily on offense. He occasionally uses objects from his surroundings to aid him in battle, either in close or ranged combat.

Even without using his matter absorption powers, Kevin is stronger than an average human.

Kevin is durable enough to resist impacts and blunt force trauma that would severely injure an ordinary person with moderate discomfort. For example, he can survive being thrown through a metal wall from afar.

Kevin can jump high in the air.

Kevin is highly acrobatic.

Kevin has enhanced reflexes, allowing him to evade attacks quickly.

Kevin has shown himself to be quite proficient in using weaponry.

Kevin is proficient at driving. He is also skilled at drag racing.

Kevin has impressive piloting skills. He is considered to be a better pilot than Ben.

Kevin possesses a vast scientific and technological knowledge of alien paraphernalia, being able to identify different pieces of technology at first glance.

Kevin is excellent at mechanics and engineering. He makes frequent repairs and enhancements to his car and the Rust Bucket 3, outfitting them with various pieces of alien technology. On top of that, he built the Mark 10, a car that he reluctantly gave to Ben as his 16th birthday present. He made alterations to Ben, Gwen and his own Plumber suits to give them a combative edge while underwater by installing a propulsion unit and neuroshock pulsers.

Kevin has great analytical and deductive skills.

Kevin is very smart, but his formal education has been erratic, if not entirely lacking. He knows a lot about some subjects, and absolutely nothing about others. Kevin's strongest intelligence is his street smarts: he is very wise and knowledgeable in the ways of the world, both on Earth and in other parts of the Milky Way Galaxy. He is also familiar with galactic court procedure on Coda Coda; and can at least read one alien language.

Equipment[]

Kevin owned a green and black muscle car, which was damaged in War of the Worlds: Part 2. He has since bought a new car.

Kevin owns a Plumber badge.

Kevin owns a Retrieval Beacon Generator.

Kevin has a Plumber suit, allowing him to survive in unsuitable environments. He modified it by installing a propulsion unit and neuroshock pulsers.

Weaknesses[]

Any energy, DNA or powers Kevin absorbs will dissipate over time or through excessive use, so he is required to recharge.

Whenever Kevin absorbs the DNA of other lifeforms, he only gains 1/10th of their abilities.

Absorbing energy, DNA or powers causes Kevin to become insane. Being drained of the energy, DNA or powers he has absorbed will restore his sanity, at the cost of making him exhausted.

Depending on his self-control, emotional and mental state and number of DNA samples absorbed, Kevin may not be able to permanently revert from his amalgamated mutations.

Kevin cannot absorb enough matter from small objects to completely coat himself, and needs a sample approximate to him in size.

Kevin is unable to use his matter absorption powers while wearing a Plumber suit, giving him a major disadvantage in combat.

In his metal form, Kevin is vulnerable to electricity.

In his metal form, Kevin can be magnetized.

In his wood form, Kevin is vulnerable to fire.

Kevin can be forced to absorb matter by coming into contact with an Absorption Band.

Most of Kevin's powers can be neutralized by energy cuffs or a power dampening headband.

Kevin can be immobilized by ice.

Kevin can be rendered unconscious by sedative quills, such as those generated from Argit's species.

Kevin is vulnerable to snake venom.

Kevin is afraid of alligators.
