Haven De La Vega is the main character of the series Investigation Neon.
History[]
Pre-Series[]
Haven De La Vega was born and raised in the small Appalachian town of Highland, where urban legends of cryptids and aliens in the surrounding woods ran rampant. Haven never paid these stories much mind; not because they were particularly skeptical, but because they were simply too numb to care.
This attitude extended to all aspects of their life, resulting in Haven essentially fading into the background as someone who was always there, but not much else. The root cause for this numbness is currently unknown.
Personality[]
As mentioned above, Haven is by and large numb to life, having no particular goals or aspirations. They're usually very quiet, preferring to communicate via body language over speech whenever possible, and tend to avoid situations that would make speech necessary. They generally do what's expected of them, devoid of passion or complaint. For them, life is boring, predictable, and has presented nothing that seems appealing. The only reason that they haven't ended their own life is that they view death as equally droll and unenticing.
When placed in a situation truly out of their depth, however, another side of Haven emerges. The adrenaline rush they experience ignites a sensation of being alive, triggering a somewhat manic state as they become overwhelmed by suddenly being able to feel things again.
Abilities[]
Being a regular human, Haven has no distinct special abilities.
Equipment[]
Novutrix[]
The Novutrix (short for "Novum Omnimatrix") is a unique wristband-like device that allows Haven to transform into ten different alien species. It exists on a higher plane than our three-dimensional world, and can only be seen and interacted with in our plane of existence through reflections.
Unknown to any of the characters in the series, the Novutrix is actually an extradimensional parasite that took on the form of an Omnitrix in order to find hosts, with its transformations in truth being derived from the first ten organisms it consumed. At its current stage of development, the parasite is able to directly incur conflicts that force its user to fight, allowing it to grow in strength alongside the person who wields it.
Though still currently in its "larval" phase, the Novutrix is on the cusp of awakening as a fully-formed organism with sentient thought and free will. Whether the resulting entity will be benevolent, malicious, or somewhere in-between remains to be seen.
