Gardjinn is an alien created by CaT that is free for anyone to use as long as they give proper credit.
Abilities[]
Gardjinn is an ethereal free-moving plant that grows a heart-like fruit known as the Heart of Eden. Those who consume the Heart of Eden will instantly be granted their greatest wish, but at a great personal cost. Exactly what this cost is varies depending on the wish, but it will invariably be somehow related to the outcome of the wish, and leave the wisher in a worse position than they were before the wish was granted.
Gardjinn draws power from the misery created by these wishes; the grander the scope of the wish, the more havoc it wreaks when it's granted, and the more misery Gardjinn is able to feed upon. Absorbing enough misery will allow him to generate a new Heart of Eden, beginning the cycle anew.
Due to lacking a lower body, Gardjinn's primary method of locomotion is hovering.
Gardjinn's arm vines are surprisingly strong, and can easily restrain a troublesome opponent.
Weaknesses[]
Gardjinn's species evolved to prey on small, unintelligent animals that lack pattern recognition and whose greatest wishes are generally things like having a lot of food or producing a lot of offspring. As a result, they have no means of luring in any being that knows the danger of eating their fruit, nor can they temper the negative effects of a large-scale wish, even if they themselves are caught up in it as collateral damage.
The Heart of Eden's reality-warping properties only take effect when the fruit is swallowed; taking a bite and then spitting it out will not activate the wish.
The Heart of Eden can only grant someone's greatest wish if they have a greatest wish; individuals that have no hopes or dreams will experience no unusual effects upon eating the fruit.
Appearances[]

Etymology[]
- Gardjinn's name is a combination of the words "garden" and "djinn"
- The species name Jinnifriuit is a combination of the words "jinni" (an alternate spelling of "djinn"), "ifrit" (a word denoting a powerful demon in Islamic culture; often used as a term for evil djinn/genies), and "fruit".
- The planet name Bereden is a combination of the words "Bereshit" (the Hebrew name for the Book of Genesis) and "Eden".
Trivia[]
- Gardjinn in general is inspired by the story of the Garden of Eden, wherein Adam and Eve eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and promptly get evicted, becoming mortal in the process. The specific mechanics of its abilities are inspired by the western interpretation of genies (djinn) as mischievous beings who grant wishes in an overly literal manner to cause problems on purpose.
- The Heart of Eden tastes vaguely like starfruit, but far sweeter.
- Gardjinn cannot consume the Heart of Eden himself because he has no mouth. You could consider this a weakness, but given the invariably negative consequences of eating the fruit, it's more of a positive thing in this case.
