Omnitrix (Earth-9902)

The Omnitrix is a machine on Earth-9902 that was used by Ben Tennyson to fight evil threats across the universe.

Appearance

The Omnitrix resembles a sleek green wristwatch with a green hourglass-like symbol on the face of the dial. Whenever it is in different modes, the dial's color will change. When an alien is selected for transformation, it shows its hologram standing on the core.

Origin

The Omnitrix was created by Azmuth of the Galvan the ultimate "peacemaker"; a weapon that could allow his species to defend themselves from outsiders. However, soon after finishing the device, it was stolen by Azmuth's ex-assistant Albedo, who sold it to the Chimera Sui Generis warlord Vilgax the Conqueror. Vilgax used the Omnitrix to take over his homeworld of Murray, and renamed it Vilgaxia.

Using secret failsafes he installed, Azmuth was able to get the Omnitrix off Vilgax and stop the warlord. Seeing his machine as too dangerous, Azmuth teleported it to one of the most isolated planets in the galaxy: Earth. Soon after, the device found itself on the wrist of human teenager Ben Tennyson, where it remains to this day!

Features

General

• The Omnitrix contains thousands of DNA samples from across the universe (and beyond, in the case of Celestialsapiens) and by merging the DNA with the user's genetic code, can create transformations. These transformations only last for a time limit of 10 - 15 minutes to prevent the DNA from permanently bonding to the user.
  • Only 10 aliens can be available at a time. However, by accessing the other samples, the user can cycle in different aliens.
  • The transformations are the "prime specimen", the fittest-healthiest version, of its species at the age of the user.
  • The Omnitrix will also give the user the instincts of the alien they've transformed into, allowing them to know exactly what the alien is capable of.
• The Omnitrix features a universal translator, which translates almost any alien language into English.
  • A variation of this can also make most transformations speak the same language as the user.
• The Omnitrix has a DNA scanner; if a sapient species not already in the watch makes physical contact with it, that species' DNA is added to the DNA database.
• The Omnitrix can recalibrate, changing its appearance and current set of 10 aliens.
• The Omnitrix uses nanites to reweave the user's clothing to fit the transformations or, it the case of some specific transformations, stores them away until changing back.
• The Omnitrix prevents the user from being possessed by other beings while transformed.

Advanced

• The Omnitrix can repair damaged DNA within its range. If amplified enough, it can even cure an entire designated species.
  • However, this drains the watch of power and automatically puts it into recharge mode.
• By manually pulling up the Omnitrix's core, the control panels pop-up as a holographic screen. This enables the user to activate the watch's many functions and additional features, unlock new DNA samples, etc.
• Alien DNA from the same planet are genetically linked in the Omnitrix. Thus, if the user is killed as one alien, he will be automatically resurrected as another species genetically linked to that transformation.

Malfunctions

• If the core is hit too hard, it will set the transformations to random. This leads to the user not getting the alien they selected.
• Huge energy surges and tampering can cause the S.D.M. (Self-Destruct Mode) function to automatically turn on.

Active Mode, the Green Setting, is the default mode. During this time, the user can access its transformations for 10 - 15 minutes at a time. However, if multiple aliens are selected during the time, the time limit will be shortened by about half.

Recharge Mode, the Red Setting, is a failsafe to keep the DNA samples in the Omnitrix from permanently bonding to the user. It typically lasts for 5 minutes, although it will automatically recharge early if the user is in immediate physical danger.

Scan Mode, the Yellow Setting, is used to collect new DNA into the Omnitrix. When a sentient species not already in the DNA database is in range, the watch will scan there DNA and add them to the active playlist.

Self-Destruct Mode, the Orange Setting, is a failsafe to destroy the Omnitrix with a power, internal charge. The longer the energy builds-up, the more destructive the blast.

Master Control is complete, unlimited access to all the Omnitrix's functions and transformations. When it is activated, the watch's regular green color will light-up.

Trivia

• By the time of his 30s, Ben has learned enough about the watch to create some of his own functions to it, such as personalized playlists and additional features.
  • One of his personal features include "Search History," which transforms him into aliens in the order he originally transformed into them (although only for about 5 minutes per alien).
