The Chrononavigator, sometimes stylised as Chrono Navigator, is a device created and used by Professor Paradox to navigate the Edge of the Omniverse in Ben 10: Beyond Bellwood. It is currently in the possession of Ben Tennyson.
Appearance[]
The Chrononavigator is a small silver pocket watch, fitting easily into one's palm.
Its clockface is a black map of the nearby Omniverse, with a feint blue ring of numbers around the outer rim as would be expected of a clock. However it has no arms with which to determine the time. A feint line connects the recent path through the Omniverse that the device has taken.
History[]
The Chrononavigator was originally created and used by Professor Paradox to navigate the Ben 10 Multiverse. When those universes began to drift towards the Edge of the Omniverse, it became an invaluable tool to help him traverse this new and hostile metareality.
Paradox explained the device to Ben Tennyson in Death in the Everfree as he recruited the new Omnitrix user against the Flesh. He used it to send Ben to the Friendship Is Magic universe as a practice run, to teach Ben how to use the Omnitrix in a real-world environment. Unfortunately Ben failed the test spectacularly and Paradox left him to his banishment on the Moon over Equestria. He left Ben with the Chrononavigator.
Ben since used the device to leave the FiM universe for the Doctor Who universe, travelled to the Red Dwarf universe, then returned to the FiM universe to rest.
Features[]
The Chrononavigator is primarily used as a device to hop between universes, and is critical in helping Ben navigate the Edge of the Omniverse. It acts as a map and navigation tool, as well as offering limited insight into nearby realities.
Universes displayed on the Chrononavigator are displayed in a variety of colours;
- Blue indicates a safe universe- one supposedly absent of Flesh.
- Red indicates a universe with a definite Flesh presence.
- Green indicates a local universe, meaning one from the Ben 10 Multiverse.
- Grey indicates a dead universe, such as those completely lost to the Flesh.
A travel history is displayed by thin lines connecting different universes on the watch face. The current universe is always central.
Some universes have names displayed next to them.
The Chrononavigator can traverse time as well as universes. By spinning the outer ring of numbers, one can move forwards and backwards in time by a given amount. Number are spun like the dial of a rotary phone, with one full rotation indicating a change of twelve hours. Much more precise movement can be achieved with great practice.
