Plot[]
Horrid freaks walked the earth at Camp Opinicon, they all had mushrooms growing out of their bodies and spiky tendrils for limbs.
One, pudgy human boy persisted through it all, sneaking by, that is until he stepped on a twig, alerting them to his location.
He screamed and ran as far as his short little legs could take him, but the creatures were just as fast, spitting spores at him.
He managed to get out of the area and they... stopped following and returned back to roaming, but it was only because he stepped straight into the road as a vehicle was in the distance, the Rust Bucket specifically.
"And I'm just saying, why does anyone in their right mind plan their birthday 6 months in advance?" Ben gestured, pointing to Gwen's several charts.
"Because someone hasn't allowed me to have mine the way I've wanted it!"
"Well it's not my fault we share the same birthday!"
"Kids, something's important!" Max called out as he slid the RV to a stop, startling the young boy on the road to jump off the cliff, only hanging by a small branch.
"Jetray to the rescue!" Ben climbed out, transforming into the manta ray alien and leaping down to the boy, catching him with his feet as he flew up back to the RV, holding him down.
"They're... coming..." The boy began to wake up, screaming at the strange alien he was looking at.
"Alright, Gilbert, if that's even your real name... Who's 'they'?" Jetray stared then looked to his family who were crossing their arms in disappointment, "What? It worked in the movies."
"Whatever happened to him, he's got a heck of an infection..." Max stared down, "Keep watch for 'them' while I get some Anti-Fungal Powder."
"He really does have everything." Gwen stared in surprise before shaking it off, "Ben, what are you doing?"
Jetray was poking what he thought was just a rash as it began to spread onto him.
"Okay, not cool, not cool!" Jetray also ran into the RV and turned back, only to find that Grandpa couldn't find any powder.
"Looks like we'll have to find the source."
"The... powder factory?"
"No, Ben, that fungus doesn't look right, we're going to investigate."
"Good news Gilbert! You're hitching a ride!" Ben yelled through the open window, "Where to anyway, Grandpa?"
"His camp uniform logo means Camp Opinicon."
On the way there, Gilbert explained his whole situation to the trio, but when they entered they saw... nothing. Just a normal, dim summer camp.
First was the mess hall, definitely abandoned, but the people who left must have left quick because there was still a warm plate of uneaten spaghetti.
They then went into the kitchen to see if maybe the person who cooked it was still close only finding a pair of children named Andy and Mandy, they were twins and they really wanted to make that clear.
"The RV can only hold so many people, do you three know anyone else still here?" Max asked the campers.
"Not after the fungi came... we seem to be the only ones left..." Gilbert pouted while Andy and Mandy nodded.
"We'll have to sit in cabins while I cook up something to eat, Gilbert, you'll take the left since you have the fungus, Andy, Mandy, Gwen, Ben-."
"On second thought, I may have touched it myself, I think I'll be stuck with Gilbert..." Ben raised his hand and sure enough, the purple was on his fingers. Max just shook his head.
In Gwen's cabin, she was trying to find some sort of care package to do her best to avoid eating Grandpa's cooking, there was a package underneath the bed however she had to avoid the twins going after her for it.
Meanwhile with Ben and Gilbert, the two were trading jokes and talking about comic book stuff when Gilbert starts coughing.
"Yeah, that was crazy-. You okay?" Ben reached for some powder that was in a closet and went to hand it to Gilbert.
"No, no I..." Gilbert looked up, his face entirely distorted ad he shot out sharp tendrils that just missed Ben after they pushed him to the wall.
"You don't wanna do this, Gil!" Ben smacks his Omnitrix against the wall and turns into...
"11 aliens in this watch and it turns me into the one with the flaming butt? In a cabin?" The tendrils immediately retracted away from Heatblast, "Now, let's relax, we can do this the easy way..."
Fungi Gilbert (Fungilbert as Ben called him) lunged at Ben so he quickly shot a fire laser that sent him out of the building.
"I will just say for the record that I'm sorry!" He yelled as he ran out of the hole he just made and began trying to run away from anything foresty or wood. That was a little difficult with multiple fungi-humans chasing you like they were part Wildmutt or something.
Small fire discs grow out of Heatblast's fingers that he tosses at the fungi-humans, tripping them up and scaring them off, he'd be proud if he didn't run face first into a giant blue fungal mound. No biggie, he just flew over, only to be caught by a tendril and tossed down.
More and more tendrils covered over him when Ben suddenly heard Max scream. He quickly ignited his flames and flew in its direction, leaving a trailing beacon of flames as he finds a pit.
"Max, where are you!" Heatblast looked around, two forks in the road, fungi freaks coming from both. He charges down one path, reverting back to Ben who manages to run into yet another group of fungi-humans.
"I think I'll just go out the way I came now." Ben turned right around, sliding under some of them as they piled on top of one another, climbing a rocky wall to escape.
Tendrils shoot out of the ground to grab a bulldozer besides the boy and throw it at him which he barely dodges, making it back to the campground, finding the same scene from the beginning. Nowhere was safe... he just had to protect Gwen and those kids.
"We'll be fine, Ben and Gilbert won't turn into monsters..." Gwen comforted the twins, when they get a knock at the door, immediately cowering.
"We're doomed!" The twins said together.
"Like we practiced..." Gwen slowly unbarricaded the door, holding a bottle of powder while the kids got theirs, she opened and... they all hit Ben, knocking him down with the tossed bottles.
"What's with the outfit?" Andy commented, pointing out that Ben was covered in leaves that he stuck to himself.
"Blending in, anyways, the fungus dudes caught Grandpa and now Gilbert's a monster."
"See, we told you!" Mandy stuck out her tongue.
"Can you go hero and go after him?"
"Right now? Yeah." Ben looked to his Omnitrix and went Wildmutt and turned around letting the others hop on.
"I don't know if I wanna do this..."
"Trust me... I've done it before, you get used to the gross." The three took a few bottles of Anti-Fungal Powder and left.
Wildmutt runs through, his sharp quills and quick senses let him take on the monsters and the tentacles, cutting down puffball pods.
"Ben, we can't try and destroy the stations of spores, we have to get to the brain!"
Wildmutt picked up the pace, finding the hole, as well as Fungilbert. Maybe he learned his lesson after Heatblast got him? Apparently not as he leapt at Wildmutt who jumped at him, the two barreling down into the hole before kicking him off.
Wildmutt got ready to attack again when he saw something that looked like...
"Grandpa!"
But Grandpa had already been turned too, Wildmutt backed up before reverting. The kids were easily caught by the tendrils and dragged to a giant virus-like... thing, they were stuck to the walls, hanging upside down as they stared.
"Ben... I know you just timed out but now would be a really really good time to go Heatblast right now." Gwen begged, hung up alongside him.
"You think I'm not... trying? The watch is freaking out!" Ben's arms were currently restrained, so he tried swinging himself over to Gwen "Try helping out?"
"I would but the fungus..."
"Either you let that same fungus take over the world or you risk infection now and try and get this to work!"
"He's right you know..." Andy said.
"Yeah, he's right!" Mandy repeated.
"Ugh..." Gwen tried her best with her restrained arm and transformed Ben as the Omnitrix, vines wrapping around his hands, blue eyes came out of his shoulders, his body stretched as his legs split into five tentacles, a flytrap covers his head before opening to reveal a cyclopian eye, eggplants came out of his back, "Okay, what the heck is this?"
"Beats me, he must've came with the fritz." The new alien struggled before growing spikes that freed him, "But I like what he can do."
"Listen to me child..." A voice spoke to Ben but nobody else.
"So, you're the brainiac."
"Mycelium."
"Mycelium, Myschmelium. I'll call you Mushroom Head. And what you're gonna do, Mushroom Head, is let me and the rest of us go so we can save this camp."
"Do you really believe I'd just do that?"
"Wasn't expecting it. Taste Wildvine!" Wildvine fired seeds from his arms, swinging around and dodging tendrils, one of them swiping the pods on his back off which went off.
"You don't understand, boy. Even if you destroy me, you won't stop the millions of spores I will release into the atmosphere, reistance is futile."
"Then I'll go down fighting anyway!" Windvine cut holes into the Mycelium which it just patched up.
"Surely, as a piece of vegetation you must know what it is like to share a singular intelligence."
"No idea what that means, but I'm guessing you're just calling me stupid."
"Ben you dolt! Look over here!" Gwen yelled, trying her best to fight off her transformation as the fungus twins closed in on her, climbing the tendrils.
"I was going to cut you guys free after I stop the bad guy-!"
"No, take this!" Gwen tossed her powder bottle before finally turning and being freed to fall to surround Wildvine.
Wildvine catches the bottle, tossing seeds at the three monsters which grow into small vines that restrained them before staring down at the Mycelium.
"Hey, Mushroom Head! You wanna eat me! Eat this!" He jumped in with the bottle, completely opening it and letting it go all inside.
The Mycelium... safe to say went off like a volcano, sending the group all throughout the cave and into the air.
"Don't worry, I can... rea-!" Ben reverted, alongside all the fungus creatures. Luckily, the slime broke their fall, unluckily, the spore pods were still out there.
"Urgh... What happened..." Gilbert moaned in pain on the floor, slowly coming to.
"I happened." Ben triumphantly stood up.
"Save the gloating until after we do something about the spores that'll infect the whole country."
The four raced to find Grandpa and then raced back to the cabin, grabbing several bottles of powder, with Ben powering on the Omnitrix again.
"Let's do this, Jetray style..."
Gilbert, Gwen, Andy and Mandy were all on different parts of Jetray's body, him carrying the twins with his feet, Gwen on his neck with Gilbert hanging onto his back, all the kids were pouring their powder down on the puffballs to diminish them, Jetary was not having fun.
"I am so regretting this, I am definitely not used to having this many passengers... Oh no."
Jetray suddenly took a nose dive, straight through the last puffball of the area, landing face first on the floor.
"Grandpa... I think we need the powder now." Gwen dizzily stood up.

- "Resistance is futile", a phrase commonly associated with the Borg from Star Trek, is spoken in this episode.
Trivia[]
- Rather than use mushroom aliens, I decided to go with more of a zombie apocalypse angle for this episode to make another change to at least try and set myself somewhat apart from the source material.
- This episode is probably actually shorter than the original due to the fact that Ben and Gwen aren't bickering as much and the group is generally together for most of it rather than split up into two halves.
