Ben Tennyson: Bellwood's Little Superhero is the thirtieth episode of Omniverse: At Night.

Plot[]

The episode begins with Will Harangue talking in the background, broadcasting his news on the invasion and war that had been stopped thanks to Ben Tennyson's heroic nature. Upon switching the camera to face him standing in front of the crowd, he announces how he is thankful for Ben and his team on saving the lives of many citizens of Bellwood, calling Ben the title: "Bellwood's Little Superhero".

The scene transitions to Ben standing on the podium after Gwen, Rook, Max and Kevin give him the support he needs since Ben recalls having stage fright. With Ben activating and adjusting the mic in order to sound clear, Harangue would begin to ask Ben questions about his duies of being a hero and where it all started. Ben goes in detail about how he found the Omnitrix when he was little and that as soon as he had put it on, he was bombarded with villains left, right and center. He'd go on to mention that aliens live inside Undertown and that they are not bothered at the sight of Humans. Harangue wishes to see proof of alien lifeforms as Ben would claim that seeing aliens from the Omnitrix is good enough evidence to prove that aliens exist. Julie spoke from the crowd and explained to Will Harangue that she had been helping Ben with missions since he was 15 and how she had been there to help him when he needed it most, further adding on how she has an alien dog named Ship. When Harangue asked of Julie and Ben's relationship, Ben explains that they used to be in a relationship before they agreed to split due to Ben's hero business that had gotten in the way of her Tennis tournament that happened a few months ago.

Harangue thanks Ben for his time as he wishes to have an interview with him on live television. With Ben agreeing to the idea, Harangue tells him to meet him in his studio during the evening hours, hoping to see Ben turn up to the show. With the crowd eventually leaving, the gang congratulate Ben for managing to handle standing on the podium and answering Harangue's questions. Ben is confused about Harangue's sudden change of nature, recalling a moment where he fought Harangue who controlled a machine called The Stalker, who had taken down Ben as Cannonbolt, Lodestar and Big Chill, with a brief flashback showing those events. Rook was unfamiliar with the Stalker, as Gwen would explain that it was a giant robot that had countered Ben's aliens like Swampfire, Jetray, Humungousaur and Spidermonkey. Rook wishes to see the Stalker, but Ben tells him (while they head off to Burger Shack) that he destroyed the Stalker as Way Big. Kevin tells Ben that he took the scraps of the Stalker and sold them to some Tetramands for Taydenite, as Ben claims that he was not surprised at all, knowing he would do something like that.

The scene transitions to Ben and the gang hanging out at Burger Shack just a few seconds after waving Max goodbye, as he needed to get back to working in Plumber HQ. Ben tells Kevin that if he ever wanted to hang out some time in the future, they could watch Sumo Slammers in cinemas. Kevin is thankful of Ben as he goes up to order food. With Ben, Gwen and Rook sitting down, Gwen grabs out a thick black book as she began to write with her blue bullpoint pen. Gwen mentions that she had homework from Xagliv that she needed to finish before the term ends, as Ben wishes to visit Friedkin University sometime soon. Gwen is happy to know that Ben is willing to visit Friedkin, as she hopes he doesn't mind if any of her classmates end up giving him a surprise visit. Ben asks who goes to the college, as she began to think, before namedropping familiar names like her brother Ken, their cousin Clyde (who Ben shivers due to some past experience and trauma) and Jennifer Nocturne. Rook asks Ben why he shivered when Gwen mentioned Clyde, as Ben would recall a horrible memory that both he and Gwen share.

The flashback opens with Ben and Gwen playing around with Clyde as Clyde would find something dirty on the ground that catches his interest. With Ben and Gwen catching their attention to Clyde's disgusting habits, they scream and run away in disgust as Clyde chases after them just after picking the dirty food from the ground and eating it. The flashback ends with present day Ben shivering after remembering such disgusting events such as that taking place. Gwen refuses to elaborate further, calling him "the weird kid that nobody wanted to hang out with" as Rook soon becomes disgusted about Clyde, telling Ben he doesn't wish to see him anytime from now til the future. Ben then remembers that Clyde is invited to a Christmas party at his house and that everyone in the family is invited, which sets off Gwen, who wished she wasn't invited.

Kevin returns with the food as he sits next to Gwen and asks what they were talking about. Ben brings up his and Gwen's cousin Clyde and how they're invited to Ben's house for a Christmas party and how Gwen doesn't want to go. Kevin is unfamiliar with Clyde as Gwen tries to describe Clyde, calling him the "weird kid at school who eats their scabs". Kevin is disgusted while Ben would try and persuade his parents to not talk to Gwen in case she ever vomits, however Gwen claims that she is unsure that Clyde does it anymore. Wanting the conversation to end, Ben digs into his food and began devouring the chili fries in large handfuls, while Gwen and Kevin began to eat also, followed by Rook, who wasn't a fan of the food, but was willing to give it a try.

The scene transitions to Will Harangue's office as he would skim through files and papers before taking his seat in front of the camera. He was on set, and was still excited to interview Ben. With several stage setters telling Will Harangue he's got a few more hours until the interview, Harangue wishes to get himself a quick cup of coffee. Unbeknownst to him, someone was lurking from behind. A silhouette of a tall man races past in order to not be seen as he makes a successful escape. He was a figure wearing black and red, his face nearly covered, wearing red-ish goggles. He grabs his phone, and tells the people he's calling that it was time for their sudden strike.

The concrete floor began rumbling, with racing cars zooming past buildings with glass buildings shattering due to the powerful waves made from their immense speeds. Upon zooming past Burger Shack, Ben catches his attention to this, as he would jump from his seat and dash out of the building, seeing the vehicles race back with dangerous speeds. Ben transforms into Wildvine as he manages to grab onto a speeding vehicle before zipping due to the speed. Wildvine lands on top of the roof of a building which catches the attention of the Malachi Sisters, who began firing away at the Florauna with their laser blasters. Dodging the laser blasts that were being shot by the sisters, Wildvine uses his slender, plant body to slide in through the opened window as he would proceed to tackle and dodge oncoming attacks, soon causing the car to crash just after Wildvine successfully escapes using his elasticity.

Wildvine would soon slam his hands into the ground as they would stretch underneath and trap the rest of the illegal racers in a huge vine-like spiderweb. Wildvine transforms back into Ben as he demanded answers from LaGrange, who would refuse to give Ben information about his sudden ambush. With Ben threatening to take him to Plumber HQ prison, LaGrange reveals that he is not working alone, and that he was working with someone else, someone who was willing to agree with helping LaGrange in his so-called "genius plan". LaGrange reveals the identity of his partner as Billy Billions. Confused, Ben asks about the identity of said other antagonist. LaGrange claims that Billy Billions was a hyperintelligent individual trapped in the body of an 11-year-old boy. Ben was curious as to why that was the case, as he tells LaGrange that he would visit Billy Billions shortly, leaving LaGrange and the other illegal racers to be apprehended by the Plumbers.

The scene transitions to Billions Tower, with Billy crafting some technology with the assistance of Mazuma, an android created by Billy himself to be his bodyguard. With Ben's voice breaking the silence in the background, Billy turns around to find himself in the eyes of Ben Tennyson. Billy expresses his hatred towards Ben as Ben justifies that he is unfimiliar with Billy at all, not even remembering him had he been in any of his classes. Billy recalls a time when they were both 11-years-old in a class taught by Mrs. Rheault that Ben's arrogance and inflated ego seemed to irritate him due to his lack of intelligence. With Ben admitting that Billy's claim was harsh, Billy wishes to continue with his work. Ben is confused at how Billy didn't wish to attack him, as Billy claimed that he just wanted to be left to do his work and be unbothered by anyone, which was why he sent out LaGrange to do the dirty work, so that Billy could get back to working on his technology.

With Ben soon wishing Billy the best of luck, he remembers that he had his interview with Will Harangue to do, hoping to make it there on time. Upon leaving Billions Tower, Ben makes a run for it in hopes to make it to Will Harangue's studio on time for the interview. Upon arriving at the building, which took Ben quite some time, Harangue welcomes him inside as he guides Ben to his seat. Once taking his seat, Will offers Ben a drink as Ben accepts the offer, going for a cup of coffee to boost his energy ready for the interview. Upon receiving his coffee, Harangue begins the interview as it was now live broadcasted.

Will Harangue welcomes Ben to the set as he congratulates him for the success on defeating and stopping the Incurseans on causing more chaos and destruction to Bellwood. Ben responds by saying that he can't take all the credit as he thanks Rook, his cousin, his best friend Kevin, Max and the plumbers for being able to help him throughout the invasion. Harangue is touched by Ben's gratitude towards his team as he would ask Ben about his history with the Incurseans. Ben would attempt to recall their first encounter, but claiming he didn't remember much due to being stuck as Alien X for most of the time. Harangue questions Alien X, as Ben reveals that he is the most powerful alien in the Omnitrix, but would explain the downsides, such as having to debate with the personalities inside the Celestialsapien, being Bellicus and Serena.

About a few minutes into the interview, Ben drinks a portion of his coffee, as Harangue asks Ben about the downsides of being a superhero. Ben both explains and complains that despite being a superhero for some time, he hardly had any time to himself, and he struggled with keeping a strong relationship with Julie and would further explain that Julie was the longest relationship he's ever been in. Harangue understood Ben's points and would continue to ask what other downsides were. Ben reveals that he could barely sleep at night because of the traumatic experiences he endured, such as the Kevin 11 incident as well as the destruction of Feedback, before facing the camera and fully apologising to Kevin for being such a jerk towards him and claims he wanted to set things right back when they were kids. All the trauma soon caught on to Ben as his face went bright red. He began to breathe heavily as his face was wet with tears. Harangue apologises for asking for further detail as Ben would forgive him and say that he was not at fault.

Shortly, Harangue asks Ben what he enjoys most about being a hero. Ben wipes his eyes and blows his nose with tissue before revealing that he was, and still is, thankful for all the friends and fellow teammates he made along the way. He claims he is also happy to support Rook and he wishes to be the best partner for him in any future scenarios, even if it meant having to sacrifice himself and risk death. Harangue asks about Rook's origins, as Ben would reveal that Rook comes from Revonnah, having been to his home planet. Ben expresses his interest in Rook's home, and wishes to visit again, even expressing his content with his family, saying that they are very nice individuals. With Harangue showing support to Ben and Rook's future adventures, he ends the interview with a quick break, as Ben takes a deep breath and sighs. Harangue thanks Ben for having the time to do the interview, as Ben appreciated doing the interview, even if he cried on live television. Harangue tells Ben that he wishes to ask two personal questions as Ben would understand that Harangue wished to ask said questions for answers.

About a few minutes pass by, as Harangue would finish the ad break and give Ben some time before the first question. With Ben giving Harangue the thumbs up, Harangue asks Ben about anything in particular that he could class as his embarrassing moment, whether it being before or during his career of being a hero. Ben began to recall an embarrassing memory as he would admit that the most embarrassing moment in his life was when his parents took a photo of him in a tutu back when he was four with Gwen. He said that his mother still has the photo somewhere in the memory photo books she has kept in a wardrobe. He admits he's went through the book a few times, even remembering other cringe moments back when he was around five where he pretended to be the Tooth Fairy, and would run around the living room carrying a wand while his father chased after him. Harangue chuckled at Ben's embarrassing moments as Ben would soon cringe having to remember those memories.

With one last question in mind, Harangue asks Ben what life would've been like had he not found the Omnitrix at the age of ten. Ben would reveal that either Max or Gwen would've found it instead, and that he would've stayed at home. He explained that he would've never even be in the position he's in now, having to repeatedly save the world and even the universe countless times over, and if he hadn't went and found the Omnitrix, then his status as being a hero would simply just vanish.

Hours soon pass as the scene switches to Ben exiting the building where Harangue's interview was held as he is spotted by everyone in Bellwood thanking him for being the hero they didn't think they needed. Rook, Gwen, Kevin and Max were also in the crowd, cheering Ben on, as Ben would run in and give the gang a hug, thanking them all for everything, and that he couldn't have done it without them, as the episode ends.

Trivia[]

  • This episode confirms a few things:
    • Ben has stage fright, which is common for people to have if they're not used to standing in front of a crowd of people.
    • Kevin sold the scrapped pieces of the Stalker to some Tetramands for some Taydenite, with Ben not being surprised at all about that information.
    • Clyde used to creep Ben and Gwen out as kids, usually by eating things that have been left on the ground.
    • Clyde, Jennifer Nocturne and Ken Tennyson are students who attend Friedkin University.
    • At the ages of four and five, Ben used to wear Gwen's tutus as well as pretending to be the Tooth Fairy, which is common for children to do, at least in Benzarro85's case.
  • Benzarro85 brought back LaGrange and the other illegal racers because he liked how they were in the reboot, despite not actually liking the characters themselves.
    • Benzarro also changed the dynamic between Billy Billions and Ben due to personal preference, and how their constant bickering and annoyance for one another had grown tiring with each passing episode of both Omniverse and the reboot.
