History[]

Fulmini Invasion[]

Many millennia ago, a species known as the Fulmini fought amongst themselves over the energy that their home planet Fulmas held, until the planet began to fall apart. United, the Fulmini began to wage war against the rest of the universe, using wormholes to travel to nearby planets in order to plunder their energy and use it to restore Fulmas to its former strength. In the process, many lives were lost. Dozens of other planets that had yet to be invaded by the Fulmini, including but not limited to Khoros and Petropia, banded together and fought the Fulmini head-on, eventually overpowering them and leaving them no choice but to call off their invasion, thus freeing the planets under their rule. Despite this, the planets that had already been invaded, as well as their respective inhabitants, were affected greatly. Some merely had to rebuild what had remained, while other species were forced to migrate, such as the Polymorphs. To prevent such a tragedy from happening again, the Galactic High Court approved the formation of an organization tasked with upholding intergalactic law and helping innocent beings, named Liberation.

Liberation's first order of business was to weaken the Fulmini empire substantially. The Fulmini who took part in the war were taken away from Fulmas. Some Fulmini were imprisoned on the planets they invaded, while others were sent to the Null Void. The leader of the empire, the High Override, was put into a state of suspended animation and buried deep within Kylmyys.

Piscciss-Pyros War[]

Decades ago, Piscciss had become heavily industrialized, causing global warming to escalate. Despite the danger, the planet's leaders travelled to Pyros and requested to borrow some Ice Eggs from the dominant species, the Pyronites, to stabilize Piscciss. Their request was denied, prompting the Piscciss Volanns to stage an invasion in a move of desperation. This escalated into a war which the original wielder of the Omnitrix, Albedo, attempted to stop. He failed, causing Piscciss to destabilize. This caught Liberation's attention. With some work from its scientists, they confiscated the Omnitrix from Albedo and imprisoned him.

During the war, a Piscciss Premann soldier named Kraab suffered severe injuries, resulting in him having mechanical parts implanted in his damaged body. 95% of his body is now mechanical and just 5% remains as Piscciss Premann.

Revelation of Aliens' Existence to Earth[]

In 1981, a blue Tetramand named Kolar ordered a hit on the Overlordess, Impenda Red Wind, through the Weaponmasters of Techadon, dissatisfied with how her rule was treating the blue Tetramands. The Weaponmasters sent a Techadon factory to Khoros, which began constructing Techadon Robots to kill her. She and the rest of the Tetramand army were able to defeat them (despite each robot learning from the last), though not without sustaining injuries. Among them, Warlord Gar lost an arm and an eye. Disappointed that the robots failed to fulfill their objective, one of the Weaponmasters, Inspector 7, travelled to Khoros to investigate. Prideful, Impenda decided to face Inspector 7 inside the factory alone but was soon overpowered by her and the factory's defenses. With most of the army still wounded, Impenda sent out a distress call to Liberation which was answered by an Anodite named Verdona. She arrived on Khoros too late, as Inspector 7 had killed Impenda. Verdona and Inspector 7 fought inside the factory, with Verdona gaining the upper hand. However, Inspector 7 was soon able to eject Verdona from the factory and leave Khoros. Verdona chased her in her ship, but Inspector 7 was able to turn the tables against her. Reflecting on how Verdona was able to make short work of the Techadon factory's defenses, Inspector 7 decided she wanted to capture Verdona to improve their defense systems.

Both pilots were injured, and their ships were damaged in the ensuing battle. They crash-landed on Earth, with Verdona landing near the Kennedy Space Center. She disguised herself as a human to blend in and soon met an astronaut named Max Tennyson, who helped her hide from NASA, bonding with her in the process. Meanwhile, the Techadon factory landed in a populated area, and the locals quickly took notice. The U.S. army cordoned off the area but could not step foot inside the factory without triggering its defenses. When Inspector 7 released a Techadon Robot to hunt Verdona down, the army tried destroying it, but it fought back, killing some soldiers. When it found Verdona, she had no choice but to reveal her powers to defeat it, mesmerizing Max. The factory soon released more robots in succession, and the army realized the robots only attacked when provoked, and that it was targeting someone else. They followed it to Max and Verdona, inadvertently learning she was an alien when they witnessed her using her powers.

Guilty that she had indirectly caused the loss of a few lives, Verdona decided to travel to the factory to face Inspector 7 head on, in spite of her injury. Max convinced her to bring him along. Meanwhile, since Liberation didn't hear from Verdona, they tracked her ship to Earth and sent a squad to rescue her. The Liberators and Verdona unintentionally converged on the factory around the same time (in plain sight, no less), and Inspector 7 realized she was at risk. Refusing to allow herself to be captured or for the Weaponmasters' secrets to be revealed, she wiped all data from the factory's computers and set it to self-destruct before escaping. Luckily, the Liberators were able to stop the countdown with seconds to spare.

In response to the revelation that aliens exist, Earth's governments created an organization known as Providence to handle all extraterrestrial matters and liase with Liberation. As a gesture of good faith, Liberation decided to allow Providence to repurpose the technology inside the Techadon factory for their operations.

Impressed with how Max conducted himself throughout the whole ordeal, and having developed strong feelings for him, Verdona recruited Max into Liberation. He gratefully accepted and soon went to space for training.

Project Paradox[]

Having discovered special properties in quartz crystals, a brilliant scientist received U.S. government funding to break a hole in the space-time continuum. The government agreed on the condition that, if the experiment succeeded, he would go back in time and prevent humanity from discovering the existence of aliens. He agreed, though he was more concerned with making a scientific breakthrough than fulfilling the government's wishes. However, a slight miscalculation and an explosion accidentally caused by his panicked assistant Hugo threw the man into the event horizon, where he remained for a hundred thousand years. He was displaced outside of time, where he lost the ability to age and was unable to sleep or eat; just exist. He went insane for a while but then got bored and regained his sanity. Gaining complete understanding of the space-time continuum, he forgot his original name in the process.

The government covered up any trace of the project and humanity continued to move forward with the knowledge that aliens are real.

Characters[]

Main Characters[]

Ben Tennyson[]

Benjamin "Ben" Kirby Tennyson is the protagonist of the series. He is 14 years old, and one of the most popular students at school thanks to his soccer skills. Despite being beloved by his family and friends, Ben feels as if he is coasting through life with no purpose. This changes when he finds the Omnitrix: an alien device which grants him the ability to transform into 10 different aliens (to start with, at least), each with a different powerset.

Like most teenagers, Ben has a humorous side but knows when to pull together when things get serious. He is aware that the true meaning of being a hero is helping others, no matter what walk of life they come from. With this sense of heroism, a great burden is constantly on his shoulders as he knows that one wrong move on his part could lead to innocent lives being hurt or lost.

Gwen Tennyson[]

Gwendolyn "Gwen" Tennyson is the deuteragonist of the series. She is 14 years old. She is very intelligent and knowledgeable in a variety of subjects and is a capable gymnast and martial artist. Deep down, Gwen is an overachiever and feels the need to be as perfect as possible, due in part to her mother Natalie pushing her to her limits as a child. This has also led to her feeling out of place in school and lacking a social life. Gwen is mature, caring and sympathetic, and somewhat soft-spoken.

After she unintentionally displays abilities during a moment of stress, Gwen learns from Grandpa Max that his wife, and her paternal grandmother Verdona, was a member of an alien species known as Anodites, who can manipulate and control manna, the mystic life energy that permeates all of nature. With Verdona having passed away sometime before the series, Gwen has to learn how to control her newfound powers on her own, and the caveats that come with them, including the temptation to absorb manna from her surroundings.

Throughout the series, Gwen develops a friendship with her paternal cousin Ben and romantic feelings for her teammate Kevin.

Kevin Levin[]

Kevin Ethan Levin is the tritagonist of the series. He is a 15-year-old mutant human/Osmosian hybrid. Like other Osmosians, Kevin can absorb the matter of anything, with some exceptions, from any part of his body. Unlike other Osmosians, however, he can also absorb energy. He was born and spent his early childhood on his father Devin's home planet, Osmos V. When his mutation manifested, his parents made an effort to hide it from others as Osmosians dislike those among them who are different. When Kevin was about five, he accidentally burned his house down, exposing his secret to his neighborhood which soon spread like wildfire. The Levins eventually chose to move to Earth (specifically, the state of Washington in the U.S.) to escape the discrimination and give Kevin a better life. Despite being long forgiven by his parents, Kevin still blames himself for the event and is reluctant to use his energy absorption abilities.

When the Levins moved to Washington, Devin became a field agent of Providence and often brought Kevin to headquarters. One day, shortly before the series, Kevin exposed his energy absorption abilities out of necessity. This caused Providence to take an interest in him, going so far as to offer to recruit him, which Devin shot down. When he found out that they went behind his back to try and recruit him, he angrily quit, and the family moved to Bellwood.

A fish out of water in Bellwood, Kevin mostly keeps to himself and comes off as aloof. Despite his tough exterior, he has a soft side and likes poetry.

Throughout the series, Kevin develops a friendship with Ben and romantic feelings for Gwen.

Max Tennyson[]

Maxwell Tennyson is Ken, Gwen and Ben's 74-year-old paternal grandfather. He was a Liberator but retired after his wife Verdona died on a mission. An easy-going, kind, and normally jovial man, Max often comes across as pleasantly absent-minded at times, but is actually quite perceptive. Max is a very brave man, having dedicated his life to preserve peace on Earth between humans and extraterrestrial life through his time as a Liberator. He is dissatisfied with Providence because they, at best, mostly tolerate aliens instead of helping them. Ever the consummate strategist, Max is very intelligent. Max is also brave and adventurous in the culinary world, and often has an appetite for foods considered weird or gross, both from Earth and beyond. This comes from his travels across the globe and galaxy. Throughout the series, Max guides Ben and Gwen in using their newfound abilities.

Recurring Characters[]

Carl Tennyson[]

Carl Tennyson is Ben's father who works as an engineer. As a child, he and his brother Frank spent a lot of time at their aunt Vera's house while Max and Verdona went on so-called work trips (Liberation missions). Because of this, they were never very close to their parents.

Devin Levin[]

Devin Levin is Kevin's Osmosian father. When the Levins moved to Washington, Devin became a field agent of Providence, with his matter absorption and manipulation abilities making him a valuable asset to the organization.

Enoch[]

Enoch is the leader of Providence. Generally, Enoch employs a calm, intimidating demeanor, despite any adversity. He rarely leaves his office, instead sending lower-ranked members of Providence to represent him when necessary, or speaking via video or audio calls. He wears a gold mask to hide his face which was disfigured during a battle with an alien. He is generally apathetic towards aliens, only seeking to use their technology to advance Providence and protect Earth.

Frank Tennyson[]

Frank Tennyson is Ken and Gwen's father. He is a considerate father who'll let his children make their own decisions. He works as a lawyer.

Hazel Levin[]

Hazel Levin is Kevin's mother. She is a car enthusiast.

Joseph Chadwick[]

Dr. Joseph Chadwick is the Director of Technology for Providence.

Ken Tennyson[]

Ken Tennyson is Gwen's older brother. He's just Ken.

Natalie Tennyson[]

Natalie Tennyson is Ken and Gwen's mother. When Gwen was a child, Natalie was somewhat of an overbearing parent, pushing Gwen to be at the top of her game in academics, sports and martial arts. While she has eased up in recent years, it has irreparably affected Gwen as she has become an overachiever. Natalie works as a florist.

Sandra Tennyson[]

Sandra Tennyson is Ben's mother. She has a liking for health and fitness and works as a Pilates instructor.

Lt. Steel[]

Lt. Steel is a field agent of Providence and widely considered to be the best. Lt. Steel is very authoritative, and his men fear him enough to know not to go against any direct order from him.

Victor Validus[]

Dr. Victor Emilio Validus is the head of Providence's research division.

Zennith[]

Zennith was Azmuth's wife who came up with the idea for the Omnitrix and co-created it with him.

Deceased Characters[]

Azmuth[]

Azmuth was a Galvan who co-created the Omnitrix with his wife Zennith. Though his scientific creations and achievements made him a very respected scientist throughout the universe, he was rather reclusive and rarely interacted with the public, preferring to let his work speak for him. He was also somewhat paranoid as he went to great lengths to keep the Omnitrix a secret and swore Zennith and their assistants Albedo and Myaxx to secrecy as well.

Azmuth died sometime before the series from natural causes.

Verdona Tennyson[]

Verdona Tennyson was Max's wife and Ben, Gwen and Ken's paternal grandmother. Unlike most Anodites, Verdona was caring and compassionate towards others, which is why she left Anodyne and joined Liberation. During her first encounter with Max, they fell deeply in love. Eventually, they entered a relationship. After Max completed his training at the Liberators' Academy, the two became partners on the field, which continued even after they got married and had two sons, Carl and Frank. Due to tensions between humans and aliens and a desire to give her family a normal life, she assumed a human form throughout her time on Earth, with everyone but Max having no clue about her true nature.

She died on a mission sometime before the series.

Transformations[]

Ball Weevil[]

Ball Weevil is a small yellow insect-like alien with black eyes and green pupils. He has four stick legs and a beak along with a big antenna. Ball Weevil can spit round, green, sticky balls of plasma that absorb matter and explode upon impact, or whenever Ball Weevil wants it to. The size of these balls depends on how much matter they absorb.

Big Chill[]

Big Chill is a humanoid, moth-like alien, whose four wings and two antennae-like wing folds can fold up into a poncho-esque robe with a hood, giving him the appearance of a phantom. He has a black body with blue patching on his slender chest, and running along his legs and arms, the latter reaching up to the back of his neck. He has cyan patches that resemble ice chunks on his legs and arms. Big Chill has the power of cryokinesis, meaning that he can create and influence the direction and form of the ice that grows from his breath and palms with extreme precision. This allows him to create simultaneous ice constructs that bend and weave through the air before solidifying.

Brainstorm[]

Brainstorm has a light orange crab-like appearance with pincers for hands. He can open his skull plates at will to reveal his huge, corrugated brain, which is pink in color. Brainstorm's cranium holds an immense brain, giving him super-massive intelligence that is too high to be measured on a human scale. He can solve very difficult calculations mentally in roughly seconds, and can visualize equations and trajectories of objects as if they're actually there. He can even determine the mechanical values and physical properties of things by simply looking at them.

Brute Fource[]

Brute Fource can duplicate himself up to three times, making four copies. His strength and durability increase with each clone he creates. His clones are mindless, however, and are all telepathically controlled by the original copy. His clones do not feel pain.

Chromastone[]

Chromastone is a humanoid silicon-based alien made of extremely durable crystal. His body is overall indigo, with several dark lines and spots. His hands and face are magenta, and he also sports six magenta shards on his back, two on his chest, and one on the top of his head that resembles a horn. His face consists of a mouth and one large green eye at the center. Chromastone has the ability to produce rainbow-colored energy from inside his body. He can then expel it out as powerful beams from either his hands, the shards on his body, or his eye. Chromastone has the ability to allow nearly any kind of energy, including lasers; electricity; mana; and any type of electromagnetic radiation, from ultraviolet light to cosmic rays, to collect within or phase through his body without harm; which he can then convert into his rainbow energy. Absorbing external energy will supercharge Chromastone's beams, making them more powerful depending on what was absorbed.

Construx[]

Construx is a 10-foot tall humanoid mechanical alien who is constructed out of trillions of microscopic cell-like machines called nanites. His face is white, with two glowing green eyes, a nose and a mouth slit with a frowning expression that does not move when he speaks, but instead glows green in the middle and the glow spreads towards its corners with varying speed and intensity according to his emotions. His arms and shins possess a varying number of white hexagonal panels. Construx's nanites have the ability to rapidly self-replicate and rearrange themselves, giving him the ability to shapeshift with ease. He can form various constructs, or "builds", such as enlarged gauntlets, blades, shields, pillars and other weapons and/or tools.

Goop[]

Being a 200-pound single-celled organism that is neither liquid nor solid but a colloidal suspension, Goop is a green gelatinous humanoid that can take any shape at will. Goop has bright green eyes and an Anti-Gravity Projector that allows him to be mobile in Earth's gravity. Goop's entire body is comprised of green cytoplasm that is very bouncy and elastic. This gives him a wide and gangly range of motion, able to stretch his limbs very far to extend his grab reach. Goop has the power of shapeshifting, allowing him to stretch, bend, and deform himself into any shape with ease, ranging from a pseudopod-protruding glob of goo to a stretchy, bouncing ball and everything in between.

Mimisthetic[]

Mimisthetic is a humanoid alien with purplish blue skin. He has two long arms with six fingers, which have very pronounced fingertips. His feet have three toes each, the middle of which are shorter than the other two. He has three green eyes with orange outlines, and lime green bulbs on his cheeks and shoulders, which glow when he uses his powers. Mimisthetic has an exceptionally good sense of touch, able to detect the thinnest crack on anything that is invisible to the naked eye. He is also able to sense vibrations through solid substances, liquids or even the air-pressure changes. He can change the touch of anything and how it feels, such as the feel of a wall, an animal's fur or even his own skin.

Vine-al Warning[]

Vine-al Warning is a seven-foot-tall humanoid made of brown dirt. There are tiny rocks dotting his body, colored either brown, black or grey. There is a large patch of grass on his head, resembling messy hair. There are brownish green vines coming out of his shoulders which creep down his arms, wrapping around his wrists. Vine-al Warning can create, shape and manipulate earth and "Earthen" elements including most solid objects, specifically all minerals and mineral compositions regardless of their state (mountain, boulder, sand or dust), dirt, and soil.

XLR8[]

XLR8 resembles a semi-armored Velociraptor. He has black orbs on his feet, a black tail with five blue stripes, and bulky claws on his three fingers that can only open and close. He wears a black cone-like helmet with a protective visor that slides over his face (that is part of his Kineceleran biology and not mechanical). Using his enhanced speed and agility, and the ability to manipulate his friction, XLR8 can reach running speeds of 500 miles per hour. Using his incredible speed, XLR8 is fast enough to run up walls and run on water. XLR8's tremendous speed and aerodynamic body makes him resistant to strong winds.

Villains[]

Albedo[]

Albedo is a Galvan who helped create the Omnitrix, and used to wield it. He is an eccentric genius who displays an arrogant sense of superiority toward others in some respects, mostly intelligence. Due to his meddling in the Pyros-Piscciss War, the Omnitrix was confiscated from him and he was imprisoned in the Rift, an intergalactic prison built for super-intelligent criminals.

DNAliens[]

DNAliens are hybrid entities created by the Highbreed using Xenocites. Though the DNAlien transformation process can take hours, that does not prevent the host's mind from being corrupted. Once the host is completely turned, the resulting DNAliens become nameless and (ostensibly) faceless; serving the Highbreed's campaign as fully obedient minions, fulfilling roles such as workers and soldiers. DNAliens blend into society using ID Masks to hide their true form. DNAliens can cough up balls of a sticky yellow slime-like resin from their mouths. This resin can harden relatively quickly and is almost unbreakable when solidified.

Highbreed[]

The Highbreed, formerly known as Atasians from the genus of the same name, are a powerful species from the planet Augstaka. The Atasians call themselves the Highbreed because they despise every other species and believe themselves to be "above" them. They also believe that they were the very first intelligent life-forms to ever exist in the history of the Universe, but they have no proof of it and simply made it up. Regardless, this belief is recorded in their accounts of history and, because of it, the Highbreed believe they are naturally afforded certain birthright advantages.

The Highbreed are xenophobic to the extent that they believe their DNA is the purest of all alien species, and seek to cleanse the universe of "lower life forms". To achieve this, they send advance forces of Highbreed and Xenocites, who build massive teleporter gates in secret, through which the main Highbreed armada arrive and destroy the natives and their planet.

Having already destroyed a bunch of planets like Arburia, the Highbreed have set their sights on Earth.

The location of Augstaka is a mystery to everyone but the Highbreed.

Groups[]

Liberation[]

Liberation is an intergalactic law-enforcement organization that makes use of many high-tech gadgets and weapons to protect the planets in the universe from various alien threats and attacks. It was formed after the Fulmini invasion many millennia ago. They are authorized in many galaxies and have set up treaties to grant special protection to certain planets. On these planets (most notably, those which were affected by the Fulmini invasion before the organization's creation), they have set up bases to monitor illegal activity and, in some cases, even run the planets either solely or in collaboration with the planet's leader(s). Planets which do not have treaties with Liberation (such as Earth) are generally left to fend for themselves unless Liberation's help is requested, though they are still subject to intergalactic law.

The hierarchy of Liberation is as follows: The organization is led by a Dracosian Magistrata named Yheir Latdu. Clusters of planets known as sectors are led by Magister Priors. Individual planets are led by Magisters, though a single planet or even a single base can have multiple Magisters. Each base has a group of highly trained field operatives called Alpha Squad.

Not all Liberators are fighters. Many are scientists, researchers, explorers, teachers, and technicians.

Providence[]

Providence is a secretive international organization which handles all extraterrestrial matters on Earth. It was formed shortly after the existence of aliens was revealed to Earth. All Providence technology is based on technology from the Techadon factory Inspector 7 left on Earth. Its main headquarters is in Washington.

Providence is led by Enoch, with its research division led by Victor Validus.

During the series, Providence takes a special interest in Ben and the Omnitrix. They intend to uncover his true identity.

Weaponmasters of Techadon[]

The Weaponmasters of Techadon are a weapons and technology R&D group who run the planet Techadon and conduct illegal dealings with anyone who can afford their services. The Weaponmasters are made up of different species both native to Techadon and from other planets. Anyone who joins the organization must abandon their old identity and adopt a numerical designation based on their class. The Weaponmasters are cold and calculating and have no concern with what those who buy their products do with them when they auction off their weapons to the highest bidders. There are three classes of Weaponmasters: five Overseers, 10 Inspectors, 20 Engineers. The Overseers run the organization and never leave Techadon, the Inspectors supervise transactions via their robots but may leave Techadon if absolutely necessary, and the Engineers manufacture the inventions in factories. The location of Techadon is unknown and, despite Liberation's efforts to topple their operation, the Weaponmasters are still thriving.

Objects[]

Omnitrix[]

A Galvan named Zennith wanted a way to promote inter-species understanding by allowing other beings to experience different ways of life. Although she initially wrote it off as a pipe dream, her then-boyfriend (later husband) Azmuth convinced her to move forward with the idea, and the two began working on a device called the Omnitrix, which could allow its wielder to alter their DNA to transform into a variety of different sapient alien species, organized into playlists of 10. Azmuth's main reason for co-creating it, aside from wanting to fulfil Zennith's wish, was to have a repository for the DNA of over a million different species for preservation purposes. That way, in the event that any of the species catalogued were rendered extinct, the Omnitrix could restore them to life. The two later recruited others to help them develop the Omnitrix: A Galvan named Albedo, and a Chimera Sui Generis named Myaxx. Albedo worked on its software packages while Myaxx designed collection devices for collecting DNA from genetic donors.

Azmuth requested that the Omnitrix be left incomplete and unused in the event of his or Zennith's death. However, after Azmuth died from natural causes, Albedo deemed himself worthy of wielding it and stole it, using it to fight crime across the galaxy. After his meddling in the Pyros-Piscciss War, the Omnitrix was confiscated by Liberation. Their attempts to destroy it failed, so they instead moved it from planet to planet at regular intervals, heavily guarded in their bases.
