And Then There Were 10 (K10 Reboot)

And Then There Were 10 is the first episode of Kyle 10 (Reboot). It was published on 20th May 2020.

Plot

In space, a ship was flying towards the planet we all know and love: earth. Inside the ship was a green-skinned alien woman with three eyes and what seemed like tendrils for hair. She sat at the ship's console, piloting it. Then a green light flashed on the dashboard. She pressed a button and a hologram of a grey-skinned, frog-like alien with some sort of beard and large eyes. He spoke with a rough voice.

Alien: Xylene, has the omnitrix reached earth yet?

Xylene: Not yet, Azmuth. I'm almost there. We'll find a suitable host for the omnitrix on this planet. I'm sure we will.

Azmuth: I hope you're right.

Xylene: I shouldn't be-agh!

The ship shook violently. Xylene used the dashboard to stop herself falling.

Azmuth: What's happening?

Xylene: I'm under attack!

A larger ship was closing in on Xylene's, dwarfing it. It shot lasers, which tore into the ship. Inside this new ship was a team of drones operating its systems and a large alien with a squid-like head in a throne. A skeletal alien approached the throne and got on one knee to speak to the towering monster.

Alien: Lord Vilgax, target has been located. We are currently attacking it as we speak 

Vilgax: Good Psyphon. Now make sure the omnitrix is within my grasp. 

Psyphon: Of course, my lord.

Meanwhile Xylene pressed a button and her ship began firing blasts back at Vilgax's. They caused tremendous damage. The entire ship shook. Psyphon fell over.

Psyphon: It appears the target is fighting back.

Vilgax: Do not screw this up, Psyphon! 

Psyphon nervously bowed and hobbled to tell the drones their orders.

Xylene held a sphere in her hands and placed it in a capsule. 

Xylene: It shall be safe.

Then the pod is seen launching out of the ship and down to earth. Xylene watches out of the window before the ship is blasted to pieces.

...

Meanwhile, on the planet itself, we see a young teenage boy, 13 years old to be exact, sat on his bed watching TV. He surfs through the channels, not interested in anything that's on. A man comes into the room and sees him.

Man: Kyle, the weather's great outside. Why don't you hang out with your friends? 

Kyle shrugged and stood.

Kyle: Sure, dad. I'll go.

Kyle turned off the TV and left the room, travelling through the house into the garage. He is then seen riding out on a red bicycle.

...

Kyle stops at the edge of the woods, where he sees a girl his age waiting for him. He chains the bike to a bike rack and approaches her.

Kyle: Hey, Amelia. You ready to hang out.

Amelia: Sure. I had nothing better to do anyway.

The two walk down a footpath into the depths of the forest. 

...

Psyphon approaches Vilgax's throne and kneels at it again.

Psyphon: Lord Vilgax, I have come to inform you that the ship has been eliminated. Unfortunately we-um-lost the omnitrix.

Vilgax slams his fist on the arm of the throne. He stands up, hulking over Psyphon. He bellows in rage.

Vilgax: How many times do I have to warn you, Psyphon? You lose the omnitrix, you lose your life.

Psyphon: B-but master, I know where the omnitrix is! If you just give me time, I can retrieve it for you.

Vilgax: Fine. (sits) Do not fail me again.

...

Kyle and Amelia both walk through the woods. They both laugh.

Amelia: Oh, I know. The way he said it was hilarious.

Kyle doubles over and struggles to speak.

Kyle: And-the best part was-he had no idea! 

Kyle and Amelia could fall to the floor right here right now and laugh. Amelia looks up and sees the sky is a bright orange.

Amelia: It's getting late. Should we go back.

Kyle: Sure. After I go to-um-you know.

Amelia: Oh, sure. Go ahead.

Kyle wanders off into the trees to do his business. Later he is seen trying to find Amelia again but can't.

Kyle: Dammit! Now I have no idea how to get home.

Then Kyle falls down a large crater. He rubs his rear end.

Kyle: Ow. Rough landing.

Kyle stands and inspects the height of the crater.

Kyle: I could easily climb out of here. But the big question is: what made this.

Kyle then notices the sphere Xylene sent to earth is in the middle of the crater, still smoking from entering the atmosphere. 

Kyle: What is that?

Kyle's curiousity takes over and he slowly and cautiously approaches. Then the sphere opens and before Kyle can see what's inside a black object leaps at his wrist. Kyle screams before realising it was a wristwatch.

Kyle: I didn't know watches could do that. And what was it doing in that sphere thingy? It must be something special. 

Kyle fiddles with the device before the faceplate lifts up. He sees the silhouette of a humanoid creature, but with slimy features and a strange UFO device floating above his head. 

Kyle: Cool.

He presses down the faceplate before being engulfed in green light. He stares, horrified, as slime begins to ooze up his arm to his chest, then throughout his body. A UFO object floats above his head as it is covered in slime. He looks at himself and screams in a slippery, high-pitched voice.

Goop: Agh! What am I? 

He steps back as he looks at his hands.

Goop: Why am I like this? I can't seriously be like this! 

He then makes a run for it, clambering out of the crater and into the forest.

Goop: Maybe I can find someone who can help me!

He runs for some time, before getting tired and placing one hand on his knee, the other on a tree, panting. He removes his hand from the tree and sees it has left an acidic mark.

Goop: Cool, I'm a big lump acid!

Then he hears a scream. He runs towards the source of the scream and finds Amelia in a clearing, along with two hovering disc-shaped drones with lasers. One blasts at Amelia but she steps back in time.

Goop: Amelia!

The UFO flies forward and Goop's body is pulled along with it. He becomes a stream of slime and hits the first drone, confusing it for a moment. Amelia is speechless as Goop reforms.

Goop: Amelia, run!

Amelia doesn't register at first then runs. Goop faces the drones, a determined look in his face. The drones spot the watch's hourglass symbol on Goop's chest and realise he is their target. Then they begin blasting. Goop raises his arms upon instinct to block the blast, but it travels straight through his body.

Goop: Wow! Acidic, shapeshifting and Indestructible! I rock!

Goop then extends his arm, forming a fist and slamming it into a drone. It is taken by suprise and knocked back. The other one blasts Goop but he runs forward, the attacks ineffective then jumps, grabbing the drone. He then watches the other drone head towards him. He uses the drone in his hand to throw at the one coming at him. They both explode upon impact.

Goop: I'm the best!

Amelia, who watched from a bush the entire time, gapes in awe at the creature. Who is he? What is he doing here? Is he on the side of good? Goop turns and spots her. She gasps and ducks, not wanting to take any chances. 

Goop: Amelia, it's me!

Amelia listens with a confused expression. She peeks through the bush but the alien has disappeared. Then a voice startles her.

Goop: Don't you recognise me?

Goop was now behind her. She screamed and cowered, shutting her eyes. She opened one, then the other. The alien just stared at her. She realised it wasn't going to hurt her.

Amelia: Who are you?

Goop: It's me, Kyle!

Amelia: Kyle, you're a monster now?

Goop looked at himself.

Goop: To be honest I think I'm more of an alien.

Amelia: Is this permanent?

Goop: I'm not sure. 

To answer the question, the symbol on Goop's chest began to flash red and then Goop reverted into his normal, human self.

Kyle: It's great to be normal again.

He looks at the watch on his arm.

Kyle: I wonder what else this thing has to offer.

...

In space, Psyphon grit his teeth upon hearing the drones had been destroyed. He grabbed a humanoid drone by the neck.

Psyphon: How could you let the omnitrix fall into the hands of a mere human child?

Drone: Sorry, Psyphon. We know what we did wrong. This time we will dispatch more units.

Psyphon: You'd better not fail, or I'll be Vilgax's next victim!

...

Kyle and Amelia looked at the fork in the path.

Kyle: I'm pretty sure the way home is right.

Amelia: No, I think we should go left.

Kyle: Great, now we don't know how to get home! This night keeps getting better and better! What else could possibly go wrong?

A laser flew past his face, missing him by an inch. The duo turned to see about 15 drones, maybe more. 

Amelia: You had to ask. Couldn't you use that watch thingy?

Kyle: Huh? Oh, sure.

Kyle stared at the black and white watch. He pressed a button and the face plate, like before, popped up. But instead of Goop's silhouette, a new shadow was on the watch face. It looked more muscular, with a strange shaped head and a horn on its head. A drone blasted at him and he dodged, losing his balance and falling. When he did, the face was pushed in when he hit the ground. Amelia covered her eyes from the flash of light. Then she saw Kyle's new form, a humanoid beetle with a horn on its head and a large, blue jaw. Like before, the omnitrix symbol was on his chest.

Eatle: I like the look of this guy! 

Eatle stood up and held a fighting stance. The drones all blasted at him. He held his arms up to protect himself and took the blasts. He opened his mouth to tell at them but a laser when in it. He gulped.

Eatle: Oh, wow! That was surprisingly delicious!

Then his horn began to glow with green energy before a laser travelled from it and hit a drone, destroying it.

Eatle: Yeah! I rock!

Eatle reached for the first thing he saw-a tree, and a used his powerful claws to pull a big chunk out of it. He then eats the bark whole and munches, then like before, a laser comes out of it. He aims, destroying 3 drones in one blow. Then Eatle charged, head bowed, using his horn as a weapon. He rammed through 2 more drones, destroying them. A drone blasts him, but it bounced off his back. He grabs a drone in his hand and crushes it, then throws the remains at another, destroying it when it hits a tree. 

Eatle: Strike!

Then he hears Amelia screaming. He turns to see a drone is aiming its blaster at her.

Eatle: Amelia!

Eatle eats a drone's body and quickly fires a laser at the drone before it has the chance to attack. Eatle runs up to her and protects her. He counts 9 remaining drones. Then they all blast at once. Eatle stepped back, almost falling on Amelia. She stepped aside as he fell under the force of the blasts. 

Amelia: Kyle!

Amelia sees a branch that has falling off a tree and picks it up.

Amelia: Leave him alone!

She uses the branch to swat 3 drones, destroying them. She throws the branch and it hits 2 more. Eatle gets up, now under less pressure and charges. He quickly destroys the drones by punching and ramming them. When the battle was over the ground was littered with the bodies of the drones. Eatle's omnitrix beeps and he reverts.

Kyle: What do you think they wanted?

Amelia: They must have wanted the watch.

Kyle: Oh, that makes sense.

Kyle looks at the watch and sees the green dial is now red. 

Kyle: Looks like it needs a recharge. Now, which way do we go?

...

Psyphon growls.

Psyphon: I cannot believe this!

The drone is about to speak but Psyphon aims a hand at him and fires an energy blast, destroying him in a single blow.

Psyphon: That does it! I shall retrieve the omnitrix myself!

...

The two had settled on taking the left path and were walking down it. Kyle was messing with the omnitrix, twisting the dial to reveal multiple alien transformations.

Kyle: This is awesome! This thing has 10 different transformations! I've already tried Goop and Eatle. I can't way to test out the rest.

Amelia: You named them?

Kyle: Yeah. I admit Goop's isn't that good, but I like the name Eatle!

Amelia chuckles, shaking her head. Then an energy blast hit a tree, causing it to fall and block their path. 

Kyle: What the-?

Psyphon approaches them from behind. They turn to see him.

Amelia: Kyle, w-what is that thing?

Psyphon: I am Psyphon, and I am here for the omnitrix.

Kyle: The what?

Psyphon: Don't play dumb with me! I know you have it.

Kyle: Oh, you mean this? (shows him watch)

Psyphon: Precisely. Hand it over so my master shall rule over your galaxy!

Amelia: Rule the galaxy?

Kyle: Not a chance! (presses down omnitrix)

Kyle begins to grow and become bulky. His skin becomes thick and white. Claws emerge from his hands. Yellow armour forms on his back, shoulders, knees and arms. He stands as a giant pillbug-like creature.

Cannonbolt: What can this guy do?

Psyphon: You won't live long enough to find out!

Psyphon fires a beam from his hand, which Cannonbolt deflects with his arm plating. 

Cannonbolt: Nice!

Cannonbolt runs forward, but clumsily trips and curls up into a sphere. 

Cannonbolt: Wow! I'm a living wrecking ball! 

Cannonbolt rolls forward and slams into Psyphon, knocking him back. He uncurls and watches Psyphon regain his balance. The villain then fires another energy blast. Cannonbolt briefly becomes a ball and spins, knocking the blast back at Psyphon. He's hit and falls into some bushes. Cannonbolt laughs.

Cannonbolt: This is too easy!

Psyphon grunted and flew towards Cannonbolt, fist held back.

Cannonbolt: A punch from a scrawny bag of bones like you isn't gonna phase me.

He was wrong. Psyphon, despite being incredibly skinny, landed a powerful punch, knocking Cannonbolt through multiple trees. Amelia rushed to his aid.

Amelia: Are you okay?

Cannonbolt: Never been bet-look out!

Cannonbolt jumps in front of Amelia and uses is back to shield against a laser. He turns and rolls towards Psyphon, who floats to the side. Cannonbolt turns and continues rolling, but Psyphon again avoids him. Cannonbolt turns and rolls, with the same result.

Amelia: Kyle, using the same strategy over and over again obviously won't work! Try using something different.

Cannonbolt: Something different? Let me think...

Cannonbolt turns and rolls again. But this time when Psyphon dodges he uncurls, grabs him and then rolls around with Psyphon inside. Amelia heard Psyphon's muffled cries as Cannonbolt bounces around like a regular ball. Then he rolls forward at extreme speed and uncurls, throwing a dizzy Psyphon across the forest. 

Cannonbolt: Oh, yeah! (punches air) Home run!

Cannonbolt then reverts as Amelia runs up to him.

Amelia: Wow, Kyle. You did great!

Kyle: I'm like some kind of superhero!

Kyle looked at the omnitrix and grinned. He knew this was the start of a new adventure.

Psyphon arrived at the ship bruised. He groaned as he shuffled nervously to Vilgax's throne. He got on one knee.

Vilgax: I am disappointed in you, Psyphon.

Psyphon: I know, Lord Vilgax. I am sorry, but the omnitrix was found by a human.

Vilgax: I'm warning you, Psyphon! You'd better start giving me better results or, trust me, I will personally punish you!

Psyphon: Yes, my lord. And I have the perfect plan to make sure that won't happen.

Vilgax: You'd better!

Psyphon: As soon as I'm finished with the boy I'll hand you the omnitrix. And his head!
