A young person named Ren living in a post-apocalyptic world is forced to do something they promised to never do. Use the Omnitrix.

Plot[]

A young, brown-haired caucasian human is tiredly lying in a hammock as it swung back and forth… back and forth. It pulled and grinded against the metal rods it hung from, filling the room with a low groaning sound. The one lying in the hammock did not seem to mind it, though. They sighed as the door to the room was forced open, generating a horrid, screeching sound, forcing them to look up at the one who entered.

“Ren… he’s looking for you.” In the doorway was a male piscciss volann. He was fairly short, with crooked teeth and squinting eyes, and he wore an oversized, white suit with a red badge placed on their chest.

The human in the room, Ren, had deep bags under their eyes and their hair was… messy to say the least. “Of course he is.” Ren muttered, crawling out of their resting place and stood up weakly. “Let me guess… we need more food.”

The fish-like alien nodded, frowning. “Sorry…”

Ren threw on a backpack as they moved to exit the room, patting the alien on the shoulder. “Don’t apologize, Donnie. He’s the prick who keeps wasting our supply.” Ren slipped out of the small building, which was built from rusted metal plates welded and nailed together into a little hut. Rusted buildings, cardboard food stands and garbage containers filled the area. As they walked, the pisciss volann, Donnie, caught up with them.

“Y-you probably shouldn’t say that openly…” He whispered, walking slowly and carefully, looking around as if to make sure no one was listening, his gaze lingering on a group of humans and aliens crowding around a campfire.

“Yeah, yeah… I know…” Ren also looked around for a moment, making sure no one was watching them. “But I doubt he’ll kill me… I’m too valuable.”

“I doubt he’d kill you when he could just lock you out… imagine if-” Don was interrupted by Ren, who covered his mouth with their hand.

“I’m getting real tired of everyone insinuating that crap!” They hissed, narrowing their eyes. “Trust me… it’s not going to happen.”

Don sighed, nodding his head. “Yeah… it is pretty ridiculous, I guess.” He looked up to see a large building, seemingly in pristine condition, at least when compared to the other buildings. It was a dome, made from purple bricks. Large, white double doors were trying their best from containing the purple light that filled its insides.

Ren furrowed their brow as they looked at the large building. “Did he sound angry?”

Don shook his head. “Not yet…”

Ren breathed a sigh of relief. “Well, that’s good.” They made their way to the doors, grabbing onto their handles, before pulling the door open. They walked into the room with closed eyes as Donnie followed into the dark room, the only light source being a dim purple lamp. “Hello, sir.”

“Hello, Renny.” The one before them smiled from their large throne as they threw a grape into their toothy maw, a popping sound releasing as they bit into it. “Oh, that was a juicy one!” They exclaimed happily, licking their lips of the fruity juices. “Hey, Patelliday! Close the door, will ya?”

Donnie jumped at the mention of his last name, swiftly spinning around and shutting the doors. “Of course, sir.”

“So, what do you need, sir?” Ren asked, staying neutral.

The man before them scoffed as he grabbed another grape and munched down on it. “I’m sure the fishstick has already told you, but we’re running low on supplies.” He picked out another grape and started licking it with a long, slithery tongue.

Ren took a deep breath before they spoke. “With all due respect, sir… but weren’t our reserves supposed to last for another week or two?”

The one on the throne flinched slightly at Ren’s observation, crushing the grape between his fingers. “I… I’m…” His smile faltered for a moment, before he grunted, putting a hand to his head. Suddenly, his smile returned and he released a low chuckle, which made Ren and Don shutter. “I will eat, when I want to eat!” The one before them leaned forward into the light, revealing a massive, humanoid form with spider-like features and red eyes.

Phil's reveal

Ren started nodding frantically as Don hid behind them. “O-of course, sir! I wasn’t t-telling you that you weren’t allowed to eat, I was just asking a question!”

The beast before them took a deep breath, before releasing it and leaning back on their throne. “I’m sorry. I’m just… a bit tense.” He muttered as he ate another grape. “Either way, I’ll need you to get more.” He leaned over his armrest and grabbed a weapon from the floor, before throwing it to Ren. It was a plumber rifle that had been painted gray. “Now then…”

Ren looked down at where the omnitrix symbol once was, before they took the sling and hung it on their shoulder. They lifted their left arm up as if to take an oath. “I swear on Azmuth, Tennyson and the Plumbers that I won’t touch, tinker or activate the ‘cursed device’ strapped to my wrist.” They lowered their arm and sighed as the one before them nodded.

“Good. Now… you may leave.” He gave them a sweet little wave, before he picked out two grapes and threw them at the two. Ren caught it with their hand, while Don leapt into the air and ate it out of the air. The beast chuckled at Don’s skill as the two youngins exited the building.

“He was… actually kinda nice today…” Don said, seemingly surprised.

“I was tempted to call him Phil.” Ren said as they stroked the plumber rifle that hung from their shoulder. They frowned as they looked at the shimmering weapon.

Don looked at them with concern for a moment. “Do you want me to come with? You seem kinda-”

“No!” Don flinched at Ren’s sudden response. “Trust me… it’s safer if I go alone. I don’t wanna bring in any unwanted attention. And a kid wearing a plumber suit won’t really go under the radar…” Ren patted the short fish on the head. “Do you want anything from the surface?”

Don put a hand to his chin for a moment. “Fishsticks!”

Ren snickered, before nodding. “Of course. I’ll be seein’ ya!” They took off, rushing past people like a speeding bullet. They continued passing rusted, dirty and even broken landmarks, until they reached a metallic gate. They grabbed the gate’s handles, struggling to force it open as it groaned. It was an elevator. They walked in and pressed a large red button next to the door. The elevator started moving, grinding against the walls of the shaft as it rose towards the surface. After what felt like an eternity, but was probably just a minute, the elevator rang as the gates slid open. Ren stepped into the light… or… what was left of it.

The sky was purple, which would normally be a pleasant sight, if it weren’t for the black clouds overshadowing the sky’s pretty colors. Dust and smoke moved through the area, pulled along by the wind. The elevator shaft stuck out of the ground, disguised by a tree that had grown on top of it, its roots lining its sides and reaching all the way into the ground. While the sky was seemingly messed up, the city was still mostly solid, large skyscrapers and buildings filling the area. And only a few were damaged, none being completely destroyed, and the only light came from a few streetlamps filling the streets, struggling to keep the city illuminated.

Ren stretched, cracked their knuckles and popped their neck. “Alright.” They started walking, looking around and searching the area. Nothing. Good. They kept walking. As they walked, they heard the static of a radio from a Radio Shack. Ren seemingly ignored it, even as a ringing sound erupted from it.

“Remember to stay inside at all times. A-A-A-Artho-oh-oh-ohs are r-r-r-r-” The voice cuts off before the ringing sound rings out again.

“Yeah, yeah… I know.” Ren said, responding to the voice on the radio. They looked to the left, seeing a store window full of televisions, most of them just showing static, besides one, which was replaying footage of the news.

The news anchor was clearly shaken, trying to adjust the straps on a gas mask as he spoke. “Ehm… something… s-something went wrong at the nosedeenian power plant! An explosion of sorts erupted and… an… EMP?” He looks off screen, as if trying to get guidance from the others on the set. “Y-yes. An EMP erupted, creating a forcefield! Off-world communication has been shut-off and-” Suddenly the screen begins to shake, the camera toppling over and hitting the ground, before the footage is repeated.

“I hate that show.” Ren commented before scoffing.

“Come on, just blast it!” Ren stopped in their tracks as they heard someone shout. They looked around, trying to figure out where it came from.

“If they realize we broke in, then they will increase the security…” Ren narrowed their eyes as someone else spoke. They inched forward, looking around the corner. Standing before a large warehouse were three individuals.

“So what?! We could blast that too!” A galvanic mechamorph roared, glowing as it narrowed its eye.

“You’re an idiot.” A pale, white-haired human muttered with a deadpan expression.

“If they increase security, then the door will be unblastable.” A humanoid, chicken-like alien responded, toying with the locks to the warehouse’s gates.

The mechamorph gasped dramatically. “W-what? An unblastable door? Oh my Azmuth…”

The human looked at the mechamorph in disbelief, holding back the urge to curse out the synthetic creature. “I hate you.”

“The food bank…” Ren whispered, looking at the warehouse with concern. They looked down at their rifle, furrowing their brow as they looked back up at the trio.

The chicken continued messing with the lock, before it suddenly popped off, revealing circuit-boards, wires and tech hiding inside. “Hand me the twaazers.”

“I thought we agreed we wouldn’t call them that!” The human hissed as he pulled out a small box, opening it to reveal a tweezer-like device connected to a wire, which itself was connected to the box.

“Unless you can come up with something better, then Circuit’s name sticks.” The chicken responded flatly as it took the “twaazer” and started zapping the inside of the lock with it.

“AW, YEAH!” The mechamorph, Circuit, cried out. “Circuit? One! Pita? Zero!” The human, named Pita, growled as he crossed his arms.

“Drop the twaazers…” The three turned around to be met with the wrong end of a rifle, pointed at them by none other than Ren. The chicken scoffed before he returned his attention to the lock, continuing his work. Before Ren could even react, Pita closed the distance and grabbed the rifle, trying to tear it from Ren’s grip. “W-wait, no!” Just then, their finger slipped, pulling the trigger and blasting the human in the chest, launching chunks of flesh in all directions.

Circuit gasped, running forwards and catching Pita just as he was about to hit the ground. “PITA!”

Ren started shaking and dropped the rifle, but its strap still hung over their shoulder. “I… I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to, I slipped!”

Circuit started sobbing, caressing the human’s cheek as the chicken continued messing with the lock. “I’m sorry I couldn’t save you Pita… I know you can be annoying, stupid, ugly, weird, loud, irritating, boring, stinky and have terrible taste in names… but you’re still my frie-”

“SHUT THE HELL UP!” Pita roared, grabbing Circuit by the neck.

Ren staggered for a moment, shaken by Pita’s sudden revival. “W-what?”

Pita got up, letting Ren see that his insides were purple and slimy, as the hole in his chest closed off, growing back together. “You’ve got spunk kid…” He blinked, revealing a pair of purple eyes. “But I’m not gonna let you use that thing again!” Suddenly, his body began to melt into purple slime, before he reformed into a large, slimy creature. He was a lenopan.

“Oh… crap.” Suddenly Ren was scooped up by the large sludge monster. Pita lifted them up to eye level, narrowing his eyes. “You’re a sludgepuppy…”

Pita’s eyes went wide for a moment, before he narrowed them again. “Normally I’d be offended, but I’m actually kinda impressed you were able to say that to my face.”

“Oh, ehm… sorry, I keep forgetting sludge- I MEAN… sorry…”

Pita rolled his eyes, before sighing. “Do I have to kill this kid?” He asked as he turned to the chicken. “I feel kinda bad…”

“If you don’t, I will…” The chicken responded tonelessly.

Pita sighed before he returned his attention to Ren. “Sorry about this, kid…” He raised his arm over his head, readying to slam them into the ground headfirst.

“No, wait!” Ren grabbed ahold of the rifle and shot it at Pita’s arm, blasting it apart and releasing them from the alien’s grip. They hit the ground, the impact being dampened by the mud-like slime that covered them. “I regret waking up today…” They groaned as they sat up, still drenched.

Circuit rushed forward to attack them, but they took aim and shot him as well, blasting him to pieces. “WOAH… I’m all over the place today.” He started laughing at his joke, before the chunk of him which had his face was stepped on by the chicken.

“I always have to do these things myself.” He muttered as he bent his arms, extending blade-like protrusions from his elbows. “For once I just wanted to unlock a door…”

Ren aimed at the chicken’s legs, hoping to bring him to his knees, but he swiftly moved in close and sliced the gun to pieces with his sharp talons, which set it off, blasting Ren backwards, while the chicken crossed his arms to block the explosion.

Ren groaned as they looked up at the chicken, who slowly walked towards Ren, who tried to crawl backwards to get away from the flightless bird, but it seems their terror and the damage sustained from the explosion slowed them down too much. “W-what did I do to… deserve death?”

“Nothing really… it’s just that we can’t let a witness get away unless we want our best chance for food to be lost. Nothing personal, of course.” His talons extended as he spoke, shining as the light from the lampposts hit them.

Ren started panicking, but tried their best to breathe. To keep themself calm. “You… you shouldn’t do this, I’m… I’m…” Suddenly, they got an idea. But it was risky. They struggled to their feet, slowly standing up to look the chicken in the eyes. “I am none other…” They grabbed their left sleeve and lifted up their arm so the chicken could see it. They pulled back their sleeve, showing off a large omnitrix. “Ren Tennyson… the wearer of the Omnitrix.”

Ren showing the Omnitrix

The chicken suddenly released a surprised cluck. “What?”

“What?” Circuit asked as he was halfway through reforming.

“WHAT?!” Pita cried, who had returned to his human form.

“Eh… yeah!” They adjusted their clothes, before adjusting their scarf. “So… piss off!”

The chicken felt himself sweat for a moment, before he narrowed his eyes. “What do you need a rifle for if you have the Omnitrix?” He took a step forward, which made Ren flinch. The chicken grinned as he took another step. “It’s a fake, isn’t it…”

“What? No! Of course not!” Ren suddenly began to regain their certainty, but it was quickly destroyed when the chicken took his third step, which made Ren begin to panic. “Hold on, listen, it is real! You’ve gotta believe me!”

“Uh-huh… sure.” Suddenly he charged them, punching them in the chest and launching them backwards. Their arms waved as they flew through the air, their right arm hitting their left. They crashed into a nearby wall, launching dust and debris in all directions.

“Wow… that was one hell of a punch, Alfred” Pita muttered as he looked at the large cloud of dust.

“Get rid of the body…” The chicken, or Alfred, muttered as his elbow-blades sunk back into his arms and he returned his attention to the lock.

“Ugh… I’m… alive?” Alfred’s feathers stood on end as he heard the strange, echoing voice. It sounded like if an angel was trapped in a bottle.

“Uh… Alf.” Circuit, who was now whole again, pointed to where Ren hit the wall.

Ren groaned, staggering slightly as they stepped forward and rubbing their head, hoping it’ll help linger their splitting headache. “Wow… I feel different.” They stepped on a piece of glass that had fallen from one of the building’s windows. They looked down, only to be met with an odd sight. “Is that… me?!”

First transformation introduction

In their reflection was an alien made out of shards of floating mirror-like crystal. Their head, torso and limbs floated freely around them and on their chunk of crystal making up their torso had the Omnitrix symbol embedded in it. “I’m… an ALIEN!” They cried out, looking down at their body.

Pita looked at them in disbelief. “What kind of creature is THAT?!”

Alfred shrugged. “I… I don’t know… Circuit?”

“Ehm… yeah, I got nothing. It’s not in my database…”

Ren was turning and looking over their shoulder, trying to take in every detail of their new body. “Huh… I don’t have a taint… or anything else for that matter.” They said as they poked their face.

“Doesn’t matter what they are. Blast ‘em!” Alfred roared, making Circuit squeal.

“Finally!” His eye began to glow brightly before a blast of green energy took off at barreling speed towards Ren, who crossed their arms in an attempt to block the blast, which worked well, since the blast split off as it hit him, launching stray lasers in all directions. “Oh come on!”

“Woah, immunity against light-based attacks? Nice!”

“I’ll take ‘em out!” Pita roared as they extended their arms to crush them, but Ren swiftly flew to the side, weaving past the incoming attack.

Ren looked down, realizing they were floating. “I wonder what else I can do…” They tried to flex their muscles, hoping I’d do something… and it did, as the shards making up their left arm turned invisible. “Huh…”

Pita rushed forwards to tackle the crystalline creature. “Stop him before he camouflages!” He reeled his arm back, ready to punch them with a swollen arm, but Ren dodged the attack by floating into the air, and faded away from view. “Damn it!”

“They’re behind you!” Circuit called out, making Pita turn around, but finding no sign of the alien. “Oh, nevermind. They’re gone. No, they’re back again! Nope, they’re gone.” Pita started looking around, confused.

“What the hell are you-” Suddenly, Ren started fading into view for a moment, before vanishing again. “Oh… looks like someone isn’t quite used to their new abilities.” He chuckled, as he started growing, extending his reach as he started looking around. “Come out, come out, wherever you are-”

Ren reappeared suddenly, flying towards Pita at barreling speed, but Pita just slapped them out of the air with a slimy tendril. Ren hit the ground with a slam, exploding into millions of pieces. “Holy moly, you smashed them!” Circuit screamed, looking at the pile of shattered crystals.

“Huh… that was a lot easier than I thought.” As Pita said this, the shards started moving, slowly lifting off the ground. “Of course…” The shards swiftly started clustering, fusing back together into complete chunks of crystal. “Regeneration.”

“RAAAGH!” They roared as they flew forwards and punched the lenopan, digging their crystal arm into their muddy body.

“Get that shit out of me.” A tendril wrapped around the shiny limb and pulled it out of his chest.

“Hold them!” Circuit cried as they began charging up another laser.

“What are you doing?” Pita asked, continuing to grab onto the alien’s segmented body.

“If you can’t kill them, we’ll bury ‘em!” Circuit aimed their laser at the ground and started blasting it, tearing it apart.

“What? Wait, WAIT!” Ren started thrashing. but they couldn’t break free from Pita’s grip.

“How can someone that stupid be that smart?” Pita pondered, as he saw the hole grow deeper and deeper.

Ren continued struggling, looking at the hole that would become their grave. Suddenly, the laser started twisting, weaving and wobbling. “Woah… what is going on?” Circuit tried to deactivate their beam, but the energy was practically forced out of him. “Uh… Alfred… I can’t stop blasting.”

Suddenly, the laser was completely redirected towards Pita, the powerful energy beginning to burn his slimy skin, which made him let go of Ren. “AGH! S-stop!” His purple slimy body began to stiffen as the energy began heating him up, turning his skin into stone. “NO! What are you doing?!”

“It’s not me! I’m trying to stop, but I can’t!” Alfred turned around as he heard Circuit’s plea, and saw Pita slowly beginning to harden into stone.

“Pita!” Alfred’s call fell on deaf ears, as Pita was now an unmoving statue. Alfred made his way to his partner in crime, and started striking at the hard surface, denting and scratching it, but he was interrupted by a powerful punch, which sent him sprawling. “Gah!”

“I can get used to this superpower thing…” Ren said, looking down at their rock-solid fist. “So… do you give up?” Ren asked, turning to look at Circuit.

“Eh… yeah…” They suddenly rushed over to their comrades, transforming into what resembled a car and scooped the two up and dropped Alfred into the passenger’s seat, while Pita was dumped into the trunk.

“HEY! We’re not done here, Circuit! We still need the foo-” Before Alfred could finish, the car drove straight into a lamppost, stopping hard and making Alfred hit his head on the steering wheel, which dazed him.

“We can get food somewhere else. I’m not dealing with this bastard!” Before Alfred could regain his senses, Circuit sped off once more, leaving a cloud of dust in his place.

Ren remained in place for a moment. “I actually… transformed.” They looked down at the Omnitrix’s symbol. “I used the Omnitrix.” They turned around, looking at the gate to the warehouse. They walked forward, putting a hand to the metallic door, seeing their reflection. “Grandpa always used to name his transformations… So, I guess I should too.” They then noticed their reflection, reflecting off of their face. "Reflect…"

They looked down at the dissected lock before picking up its cover, and trying to force it back into place. “Really hope this works.” The lock had a touchscreen, that after a swift poke from Ren, flickered to life. “Yes!” They started drawing a symbol resembling an hourglass into it, just before the lock clicked. Ren pulled the gate open, grunting slightly as they struggled to force it open. “Alright… time to pack.”

The warehouse contained a huge garden, fruits, beans, vegetables and berries filling the large building. Along the walls were large protein dispensers, built to generate synthetic meats, and on the second floor were ingredients used for meals and pastries. Ren looked down at their body, and tried to grin. They split up, each piece taking it upon themself to scoop up the supplies, cutting greens from their branches, picking fruits and collecting meats.

“This is amazing… what would take me an hour as a human. This should just take about a few minutes when I’m like this. I don’t understand what the hell Phil’s problem is with me using the Omnitrix… Vi- I mean… ugh, why am I scared of saying his name? He can’t even reach this planet! Nobody can.” They brought in all of their goods, piling them up. “Get it together, Ren. Now, time to-” They reached for their backpack, only to realize they weren’t wearing it anymore. “What?! Where’s-” Suddenly the Omnitrix started flashing red, beeping loudly before a blast of red light erupted from their body.

As the light dissipated, Ren was human again. “Oh… huh…” They patted their back again, realizing their backpack was back. “Oh… nice.” They took it off and unzipped it, pulling out a small, disc-shaped device and with the press of a button, the device grew and unfolded into a shopping cart! A shiny, high-tech shopping cart. Ren scooped up their wares and dropped them into the cart. “This went a lot faster than usual… I’m sure I can linger up here for a while.”

Ren sat on a chunk of concrete that had fallen down from some damaged building as they were munching on an apple. They looked into the distance as they saw the sun rise in the distance, turning the purple night sky into an ethereal yellow color. Ren looked down to see a butterfly fly into view and settle on a dandelion that was peeking out from under a rock.

“It’s still beautiful up here… I really can’t understand why Phil keeps us down there.” They looked back down at their apple as a drop of juice ran down from where they had bitten. They looked down at their left arm, raising it up and pulling back their sleeve to look at the Omnitrix. “I wonder what other guys are hiding in this thing.” They shook their head, pulling down their wrist. “Whatever. I should be heading back now either way.”

They gnawed off another large chunk from the apple before running up to their cart and throwing their apple aside. “At least these visits are gonna be a lot easier now that I can use the watch.” They felt a small smile creep up their face as they started walking, as if years worth of dread began to lift.

The criminal trio stood with shame in a large room. It resembled an aquarium, with large water tanks filled to the brim with aquatic creatures, ranging from alien ones to those originating from earth. Circuit was watching a mermaid-like creature sleep on a large barnacle, letting it spew water onto it as a form of stress relief, while Alfred and Pita were crouched before a large individual resting in a large pool, with back- and armrests, making it look like a chair.

After what felt like a minute straight of silence, Alfred finally broke the silence by clearing his throat. “Good morning, Cinng…” The one on the throne didn’t respond. Alfred held back a nervous cluck, as he continued. “We’re sorry to inform you that we failed to break into their warehouse.”

Cinng, as if amused, rested their head on their hand as Alfred said this. “You failed to break into an old warehouse who’s security hasn’t been upgraded in over ten years?” Despite their imposing presence, they spoke in a laid-back manner, but this didn’t ease any of the ones before them, besides Circuit, who was now watching a crab-like creature and an alien that looked like a starfish go on a date.

“Someone… stopped us-”

“HAH!” Alfred was interrupted by Cinng’s powerful laugh. “You were stopped by an undergrounder?! That’s hysterical…”

Alfred started to sweat, feeling his feathers stand on end, but Pita, who successfully escaped his rocky prison, was the one to respond. “They were… different.”

Cinng raised a brow at this, as they leaned forward. “Really now?”

Pita cleared their throat. “They… they were a human… and they-”

“They had the Omnitrix.” Circuit responded flatly, now looking at three seahorse-like creatures hanging out in a rocky clubhouse, clearly discussing something.

Cinng felt his blood run cold as the mechamorph said this. “Pardon?”

“Yeah… they were a kid. They said they were a Tennyson. Guess Ken’s kid survived.” Circuit continued, still looking at the seahorses, who were now looking at a rainbow-colored turtle swim past.

Cinng lowered their arm into the water. “The wearer of the Omnitrix is alive?”

Circuit nodded, finally turning away from the tank to look his boss in the eyes. “Yep. It seemed like they had never used it before, but they were still able to wipe the floor with us.”

Cinng was silent, processing the mountain of information Circuit dumped onto him. “I… I see…”

Alfred pulled in Cinng’s attention with a cluck. “B-but we’ll deal with them! We can keep look out and jump the-”

“No.” Cinng shut his ideá down swiftly. “I’m not gonna send my break-in troop into a combat situation.” He adjusted his mechanical collar as he cleared his throat. “I know exactly who I need to handle this situation.” He waved his hand, motioning for the trio to leave his chamber. Just as the door closed behind them, he sighed as he looked down at his massive claw. “I was afraid they were still out there…” He pressed a button as he heard a voice pipe up from speakers hidden in his chair.

“Yes, sir?”

“Contact 812 and 856.”

“Are you sure, si-”

“Positive…” He responded flatly, before he pressed another button, deactivating the speakers. “Azmuth help me.”
