I won't give up! Not on Etheria. Not on my friends. Not on myself.

–Adora, proclaiming her determination before turning into She-Ra and breaking out of Beast Island's vines.

Adora is one of the protagonists of the A-B10's Saga. She was a soldier belonging to the Horde until she found the Sword of Protection, a powerful weapon created by the vanished population of the Eternians. Though initially clumsy and incapable in her new role as She-Ra, Adora has become the heroine Etheria needed.

Appearance[]

Adora[]

Somatic Traits[]

Adora's physical appearance has changed over time, going from a 10-year-old girl to a 47-year-old woman. However, it retains some recurring characteristics. She has dark-blonde hair, blue-gray eyes, pale skin, narrow brown eyebrows, and an athletic physique.

Regular Appearances[]

In flashbacks to when she was a child, her usual clothes consisted of a short-sleeved shirt with red shoulders, gray pants, and red-and-white shoes.

In Ultimate Princesses of Power Alien and Princesses of Power, she wore a long-sleeved white turtleneck with pointed sleeves and red accents (one of which is the Horde symbol on her back, removed after she joined the Rebellion). A red jacket with quarter sleeves and a beige popped collar is usually worn over the shirt (until lacking, he wears the badge of Captain of the Force). He also wears gray leggings and a brown belt with a Horde buckle, which is later replaced with a golden wing, symbolic of his newfound allegiance to the Rebellion.

In OmniSword, he wore a white shirt that was slightly open at the chest and midriff to the navel, with a red jacket with white bubbly arms and red forearms. He wore blue jeans with a cobalt band on the left knee, held in place by a brown belt. She wore taller red boots, with a small heel and tied with small brown straps.

Future appearances have shown her wearing a red leotard (almost suggesting a one-piece swimsuit) with white long sleeves, brown triangular shoulder pads, red cone-shaped wrist guards, a black belt, and red boots with high heels.

She-Ra[]

Somatic Traits[]

In her She-Ra form, Adora still retains her slender physique, but is more muscular and has long, wavy/straight, light-blonde hair that can also glow, and blue eyes. Subsequent transformations have mostly changed the haircut or the musculature.

Regular Appearances[]

In Ultimate Princesses of Power Alien up to "Save the Cat", he wears a thin golden crown with two wings on each side, a red jewel in the center and solid golden cuffs. She wears a white gown with a golden six-pointed flower embroidered across the chest, divided by a golden seam that divides the bodice from collar to waist. In the center of the flower is an oval blue gemstone. His sleeves are golden, spiked pauldrons that stand on their own. The above seam blends into the gold trim of the uniform collar and ends when it reaches the apex of the thick gold belt, creating a V-shaped belt at the waist. Her frilly white skirt, which begins below the waist, is open at the front revealing a pair of white trousers. She also wears knee-high white and aqua sport boots, with gold soles and accents. Complete her outfit with a knee-length red cape.

From "Save the Cat" onwards, she wears white long pants and boots with gold wing decals (representing Glimmer), her shirt now looks more like a blouse with a long back and red inside, the shirt also sports a heart outlined in gold (representing Bow), her golden tiara has been significantly changed to look more like Catra's previous mask (representing Catra).

In future appearances, she has a crown-shaped winged headdress with which she holds back her hair. She wears a short white dress decorated with metallic motifs, as well as a red cape, golden boots and long golden bracelets that extend from her elbows to her wrists.

Personality[]

Adora is a brave, competitive and noble warrior and is true to her values. She has proven to be a leader in every group she joins. Realizing what the Horde has done to the innocent Etherians, he makes an important decision in life (to leave the Horde). Reluctantly, she is willing to lose her lifelong friend, Catra, in order to remain true to her values.

Despite deciding to leave the Horde, Adora has shown that she is more comfortable following rules and sticking to plans. She is not entirely socially competent, having grown up in a military environment, so she is typically very outspoken and always prefers to be prepared for battle. He is also shown to be unaware of some familiar terms such as "aunt".

Adora's heroics, power, and positivity begin to grow as she and her friends continue to battle the Evil Horde. She suffers from occasional clumsiness especially when trying to control his powers, weapons, or when trying to bond with Swift Wind. She loves dealing with pressure when discussing the Allies' plan of attack in the Tent of War in "Stare al gioco". Despite all of this, Adora/She-Ra works to overcome her fear and become a mighty warrior to save Etheria from tyranny.

Due to Shadow Weaver's abuse, Adora believes she is solely responsible for the well-being of others. In fact, since becoming She-Ra, she has acquired quite a bit of a martyr complex. She constantly puts her relationships aside, even healthy ones, when it comes to fighting the Horde. Notably, after destroying the Sword of Protection, Adora has consistently leapt into battle with no regard for her own well-being. Even more remarkable, she is perfectly willing to sacrifice her own life when it seems necessary. Notable examples were in "Mondi im-perfetti" and "Il cuore (Parte II)".

Following the war, when fighting was no longer necessary, she fell into a kind of depression due to her fear of not being useful anymore. She started having sloppy humor (similar to Ben's) to mask her fears, thus being criticized by her allies. In an effort to continue to be useful in the post-war period, he has begun to help even old enemies (such as Hordak) with the excuse that "everyone deserves justice". Even after being discovered by Max in "Buon compleanno, Adora", she continued on this path; only with the events of "Alien-Y-Tinction" didshe begin to heal.

Adora's future appearance has shown that she will continue to be a strong-willed individual who puts all others first, differing in being more confident, wiser, and nobler than her current counterpart. She will demonstrate that he has the gift of doing the right thing at the right time, by not giving up and/or letting anyone stop him from doing what's right for those in need. Like her younger self in Princesses of Power, she displays a wicked sense of humor, but it's unclear if this still stems from the fears she still has about certain situations and hiding her insecurities.

Story[]

Background[]

As Light Hope said in "Il prezzo del potere", Adora is not from Etheria, but from another planet called Eternia.

Light Hope took Adora to Etheria through a portal from another place where the Eternians came from. After Adora passed through the portal, Lord Hordak found her and took her away to become a soldier of the Horde. Shadow Weaver, the Horde's second-in-command, raised her after telling Hordak that she had power, raising her alongside Catra and training her to be a child soldier.

Light Hope watched over Adora waiting for the moment to present her with the Sword of Protection.

Ultimate Princesses of Power Alien[]

Season 1[]

Adora starts out as a prodigy soldier of the Horde, eventually becoming Force Captain, until one day while hiking with Catra she spots a strange sword and, upon touching it, receives visions. Although she returns to the Fright Zone, she is drawn to the sword where she meets Glimmer, Bow and Ben. Although the four have a difficult start, the group makes friends and, when the Horde attacks the village of Thaymor, she chooses to take on the mantle of She-Ra and defend them from the Horde together with Ben, deserting and moving away from Catra.

Engaging with Queen Angella and the Rebellion, Adora then sets out to aid the besieged land of Plumeria, encouraging them to fight for themselves and successfully curing their poisoned land. Adora continues into the kingdom of Salineas and aids Mermista, repairing the Sea Gate while Ben holds off Catra, who continues to try to bring Adora back to the Fright Zone. Adora then moves to Dryl and recruits Entrapta for the Princess Alliance as well, and ends up recruiting Castaspella of Mystacor saving them from Shadow Weaver's magic.

At the Princesses Prom, Adora meets Catra on neutral ground and fails to respect the neutrality of space, resulting in a duel breaking out between Ben and Frosta, the hostess Adora and the group were attempting to recruit. Catra then kidnaps Glimmer and Bow, leaving Adora and Ben without the sword.

Adora and Ben rally other princesses to mount a rescue mission, and although it is successful, Entrapta dies. Glimmer, however, is ill with a curse, and Adora and Ben go to the Lighthouse to get Light Hope's help in learning healing and saving her. There he meets Catra and numerous illusions drawn from the memories of all three. Although Adora tries to relate to Catra, their bond cannot be repaired and Catra leaves. However, Light Hope insists that Adora and Ben serve the entire planet first, so Ben convinces Adora to refuse to stay and return to Bright Moon with her friends.

In Bright Moon, the Horde arrives to assault the kingdom. Adora is nearly defeated until Ben transforms into Ultra Gigante and numerous princesses arrive to help, and together they repel the Horde.

Season 2[]

Adora continues to train with Light Hope and Ben to improve her martial prowess as She-Ra while fending off the Horde, who continue to assault the woods. She, Ben, and Bow find themselves in a bind as they struggle to capture one of their robots, and when they do, they realize that Entrapta is alive as the First Ones' technology was incorporated into the machines, something only she could do.

While Glimmer and Bow deal with this, Adora and Ben are sent to repair an outpost by Light Hope to bring it to full computational capacity. She then continues to Alwyn, where the ghost reports turn out to be old communications from the First Ones that were never sent properly, which Adora fixes. Later, Adora struggles to formulate a plan to conquer a strategic fortress occupied by the Horde, but none of her compatriots take her plan seriously. Ultimately, encouraged by her friends, she ends up storming the fortress with nothing more than improvisation, and the operation is successful.

In the Northern Reach, Adora and the group search for an anomalous Horde outpost to stop whatever they're trying, and end up encountering Catra, Entrapta, and Scorpia. Catra uses Entrapta's old data disk infecting the First Ones' technology to infect the Sword of Protection and the Ultimatrix, causing Adora to fly into an indiscriminate rampage and preventing Ben from transforming. After Scorpia separated Adora from her sword, she became docile and incoherent, and neutralized Ben. Scorpia ultimately destroys the disk to save Catra from the similarly infected First Ones' snow monsters, while also saving Adora and the group.

Later, Adora, Glimmer, and Ben help Bow with a transmission he found, thinking it is a message about She-Ra and Infinite's past. Bow leaves to investigate, but Glimmer, Ben, and Adora follow him, discovering Bow's secret; he has two fathers who believe he is a historian training at a made-up academy. Adora and the group advise him to tell his fathers the truth as they question her about her knowledge of the First Ones' language, until she accidentally activates the First Ones' elemental. Adora fights alongside her friends until Bow manages to deactivate her. Later, with Bow's fathers, they discover that the message Bow found can only be properly heard in the center of the Crimson Wastes.

Season 2 ends with Shadow Weaver standing menacingly over Adora's bed.

Season 3[]

Adora is startled awake, witnessing Shadow Weaver's defeat at the hands of Ben. When Shadow Weaver is taken into custody, Adora desperately wants to interrogate her and Ben is on her side, but Angella forbids it and Bow and Glimmer agree, the latter two working together to stop Adora and Ben from doing so until she convinces them of the opposite. Now able to enter the room without resistance, Adora begins to interrogate the ailing Shadow Weaver and eventually reaches a deal to cure her in exchange for knowledge without lies. Shadow Weaver teaches her to heal and Adora successfully restores the sorceress' health, whereupon Shadow Weaver reveals that Adora is not originally from Etheria. Adora runs away in shock.

Adora seeks out Light Hope, who confirms that Adora is a First Ones, stolen from beyond Etheria via a portal similar to the one that brought Ben to Etheria. After Light Hope refuses to answer further questions, Adora and Ben set out to track down Mara and Aron in the Crimson Wastes. There, Adora and the group face numerous setbacks, but eventually befriend the initially traitorous Huntara, who takes them to the center of the desert to discover Mara and Aron's ship.

Listening to a recording of them in the spaceship, Mara and Aron explain that they deliberately cut off Etheria from the rest of the universe, placing it in a completely empty dimension called Despondos with nothing else inside it (hence why the stars vanish for the Etherians). They beg the successors not to use the Sword of Protection and the Bracelet of Infinity to open a portal, lest it destroy the planet, but Adora and Ben are captured and her sword and watch are taken by Catra shortly after.

Catra has Adora and Ben gagged, bound, and brought before Hordak to have him use the sword and watch to open a portal to the universe. Adora and Ben try to dissuade Entrapta from opening the portal, mocking Hordak, but despite this and the efforts of the other princesses Catra still ends up successfully opening a portal, making reality disconnected.

As a result, Adora suddenly awakens in a "perfect" illusory reality, once again with the Horde in the Fright Zone. Adora does not remember any of the previous events, only that in this reality she successfully completed the invasion of Thaymor and returned as a war heroine. Adora is uncomfortable, however, as repressed memories lurk beneath the surface and the continuity of this reality is unhealthy (e.g. time passing without remembering it happening, crossing distances without remembering having traveled the space in between) . Adora begins to panic despite her peers' assurances that everything is fine and turns to Scorpia for help.

Although initially wary, Adora manages to convince Scorpia that something is wrong, and they eventually reach Hordak's laboratory in an attempt to close the reality-altering portal; but there is not. Adora loses Scorpia and Lonnie to flickering flashes of light and cracks in reality, but uses Paradox's advice to try to set the world right. Enraged, Adora knocks Catra out and takes her with her, attempting to save Catra. However Catra refuses to save what remains of Etheria and clashes, with Adora until Ben, Kevin and Gwen arrive.

Adora and the group approach Bright Moon and make Glimmer and Bow realize that not everything is as perfect as it seems, and together they go to Dryl to ask Entrapta for help in closing the portal and fixing reality. Adora discovers that someone must be trapped between dimensions in order to do this and that the disruption in reality is following her and Ben, so she leaves the faded Entrapta for the lighthouse. There, he sees Mara and Aron in the flesh, but they quickly vanish, and then Glimmer, Gwen, Bow, and Kevin vanish as well. Later, a corrupted Catra appears. Adora and Ben engage in battle and defeat her, but find themselves falling into the rift of reality.

Miraculously, Adora and Ben are saved by Queen Angella, who realized that this reality was false and recovered her memories. Angella then sacrifices herself to stabilize the portal and return the Sword of Protection and the Ultimatrix. Adora and Ben emerge from the still open portal and close it permanently. Catra and Hordak flee before her, and Shadow Weaver and Glimmer work together to return her and everyone else to Bright Moon. There, Adora and Ben share the news of her mother's sacrifice with Glimmer and begin to cry.

Powers and Abilities[]

Powers[]

  • Powers via the Sword of Protection (And later by herself):
    • Transformation: Using the Sword of Protection, Adora can transform into the legendary warrior known as She-Ra, becoming taller and more muscular in the process. Her hair also becomes longer and a much lighter shade of blonde. Her eyes become lighter-blue and, when affected by the runestone, turns white. Finally, Adora's clothes are transformed into She-Ra's costume. With the sword broken, she discovered the power within and can now transform without it, materializing a new sword in the process as well. Additionally, Adora can transform the sword into any form, including a shield, a flute, a mop, a whip, and a cup.
      • Superhuman strength: Adora is incredibly strong as She-Ra, being able to easily lift and punch dents into Horde tanks with little issue. Even without She-Ra powers Adora is very strong which can be seen when she wins an arm-wrestling match against well built, strong Sea Hawk (who himself is an excellent wrestler), and casually broke off the top of a rock.
      • Superhuman durability: As She-Ra, Adora is capable of surviving all sorts of powerful attacks. She was able to endure an explosion from the self-destruction of an EKS and take attacks from powerful foes such as Catra and Scorpia. Her durability does have a limit, however, as she was knocked out by a point-blank energy shot from a Horde tank, with Madame Razz being forced to save her.
      • Superhuman agility: Adora is shown to be able to make incredible leaps while transformed.
      • Healing Powers: According to Perfuma, She-Ra is said to possess powerful healing abilities. The first time Adora successfully performed this ability as She-Ra was when she restored Plumeria using the very same machine the Horde used to poison the land as the conduit, reversing the damage. Later, Shadow Weaver guides Adora into being able to heal her using the runestone housed in She-Ra's sword.
    • Animal Transformation: Energy from the sword's Runestone is shown to mutate animals. This is shown twice on the show. The second being a reptile in Plumeria that scurries away, the first resulted in the transformation of Horsey into Swift Wind. Swift Wind's transformation was physical and mental, giving the creature a horn, wings, new coloration, vocal chords that allowed him to speak, and intelligence. It also created a bond between Adora and Swift Wind that strengthens with teamwork.
    • Energy Blast: Using the sword as a focus, Adora as She-Ra can unleash powerful rainbow-colored energy attacks capable of destroying spaceships of the Horde Armada.
    • Aura Generation: When united with the other Princesses, Adora can generate an aura that greatly increases her power. Her aura manifests in white with some little pale yellow glowing.
    • Animal Magic: She-Ra has the power to calm aggression in animals. This is first seen in La spada e l'orologio (Parte I) after she transforms when being attacked by a giant bug-like creature.
    • Sword Summoning: In Season Five, with her new She-Ra form comes the ability to summon a new sword that seems to be just as powerful as her old one.
    • Space Survival: In her She-Ra form she can travel trough the void of space without the assistance of a space suit.

Abilities[]

  • Expert Hand-to-Hand Combatant: Even before finding the Sword, Adora was an incredibly skilled combatant as a result of her cadet training with the Horde. She was able to complete her training in record time.
  • Navigation and Survival: Using materials in the Crimson Waste, Adora was able to find the right way to go.
  • Leadership: Adora has been shown to be a competent leader, capable of coordinating her allies and develop strategies.
  • Indomitable Will: Adora is very determined to prove herself worthy of protecting those she cares about.

Weaknesses[]

  • Endurance Limit: Her stamina has a limit, as she was knocked out by a point-blank energy blast from a Horde tank, with Madame Razz forced to save her.
  • Eternian's Artifact/Corrupted Virus: If the sword is directly infected with the Data Disk when she is She-Ra, she enters a violent berserker rage and becomes incapable of differentiating friend (Bow, Glimmer and Sea Hawk) or foe (Catra). Taking the Sword of Protection from Adora and destroying the Data Disk is the only way to stop its corruption. Once the Sword of Protection is taken from Adora, she falls into an inebriated state and loses her memory of what happened.
  • Unclear Mind: If her mind is unfocused or full of doubt, she cannot transform into She-Ra.
  • Extreme hair envy with She-Ra: As Netossa explained, Adora has a couple insecurities, one of them being her hair.
