A Partner in Need is the third episode of Omniverse: At Night.

Plot

The episode begins in a sunset setting; Ben, Gwen and Kevin hanging out one last time at Burger Shack, with the trio sat in Kevin's car, eating their food. Gwen thanks Ben for hanging out, with Ben thanking both Gwen and Kevin for letting him hang with them one last time. Kevin admits that he'd miss saving the world with Ben, as Gwen agrees, telling Ben that she was so happy to have been there by his side since the very beginning. As a final request, Ben asks Kevin if he could drop him off at Plumber HQ, as Kevin obliges, driving off into the sunset.

Arriving at Plumber HQ, Ben exits the car as he wishes a farewell to Gwen and Kevin, who tell him that they'd miss him while they're gone, as Kevin drives off, leaving Ben, who enters Plumber HQ, wanting to visit Max, who was busy working. Max welcomes Ben, as he finishes cooking his meal, which was Zandurian Goulash. Ben announces that he is not hungry, but is stopped by Max, who informs him about a partner. Curious, Ben asks about his new partner, to which Max confirms that his new partner is not from Earth, before getting cut off by an alarm.

Ben and Max run to the main area, as they find out that an anomaly had occured in an abandoned building, due to collapse. Ben goes solo, but Max calls for backup, before Ben immaturely claims that he doesn't need a team, and how he's good working alone. The camera cuts to Ben parking near the almost collapsed building, walking up to it, before getting closer. Conveniently, a wild Crabdozer leaps out from the buidling as they scare Ben, who dials the Omnitrix, as he transforms into Spidermonkey, wishing he had got Humungousaur instead. Having to improvise, Spidermonkey would dodge the attacks from Heatblast's natural predator, while Crabdozer slams him into a wall. The building crumbles on impact, as Spidermonkey manages to break free, needing to change, but was ambushed quickly by the bigger threat.

After more scurrying around, the Crabdozer is halted by a loud whistling sound, as they retreat to their hiding spot. Spidermonkey transforms back into Ben, as he is greeted by Pakmar, who accidentally made him jump. Pakmar tells Ben about something that happened recently, which gives Ben the idea to visit somebody who he had met before. The camera then cuts to Ben entering Mr. Baumann's store, as Mr. Baumann was busy stocking tin cans, with Ben trying to fit in with the alien crowd by transforming into Cannonbolt. He is later greeted by a robed figure, who seemed to be enjoying his meal. Out arrive three crooks who make a deal with Baumann, before Cannonbolt chimes in, to Mr. Baumann's dismay.

Bubble Helmet, Liam and Fistina begin to fight Cannonbolt, who manages to fend them off, while everyone evacuates the building. Bubble Helmet plants a detonation device, which Cannonbolt fails to take down, Cannonbolt transforms back into Ben as he smacks into it, while the foes take there leave. Suddenly, Rook leaps into action, taking down Liam, Fistina and Bubble Helmet, striking a pose. Ben questions who he is, as Rook reveals to him that Grandpa Max sent him, and is also Ben's new partner. Rook would go into detail about how he is excited to become Ben's partner, as the villains would get up and try to escape, before Rook catches and traps them in a net, generated by Rook's weapon: The Proto-TOOL.

The Omnitrix finishes recharging as Ben would transform into Bloxx, an unfamiliar alien, as he'd try breaking the barrier open, to no avail. Rook would intervene as Bloxx would trap the restrained outlaws in a dome, asking Rook about the timer, which was counting down quickly. Rook uses a missile as he uses it to blow a hole in the wall, granting the opportunity to take the detonation device outside. Bloxx would help Rook as he attempts to throw it, only to get shot by the crooks, who get their lasers deflected by Bloxx's body, as quick as he could, Bloxx transforms into a catapult as he flings the device as far as possible, before it detonates, exploding the building. Rook and Bloxx survive, as Bloxx would transform back into Ben. Rook thanks Ben for protecting him, as Ben would shrug it off, seeming to be discontent towards his new partner, who tries his best to understand the human language. The crooks are then later arrested, as Rook calls upon the Plumbers to take them to Plumber HQ.

The scene cuts to Plumber HQ, Ben and Rook take the elevator down as they are greeted by Max, as Rook had kept the crooks in captivity, as Max took them to their cells. Rook takes Ben to reveal his vehicle, which Ben seemed to be excited for. Upon making it to the floor where the vehicle was kept, Ben's excited expression changed into disappointment, as he sarcastically commented about how girls would fall for something as "perfect" as that, until Rook reveals it's second form. Amazed, Ben takes back what he said about it, and even complimented Rook, saying that he is cool, making Rook smile. Despite wanting to ride the Proto-TRUK, Rook insists that Ben should get some rest, as it's very late. Walking in, Max agrees, telling Ben that Rook and his Proto-TRUK would still be there by the next day. Ben waves Rook goodbye, as he heads home, ending this scene.

The next scene opens to Max and Rook waiting for Ben, who arrives late due to getting a smoothy on the way to Plumber HQ, and has also given himself a new look. Rook greets Ben, who waves back, still excited to enter the Proto-TRUK. With Max leaving to attend duties caused by Blukic and Driba, Ben and Rook enter the Proto-TRUK, as they exit through a secret tunnel, before Rook activates the ship setting, allowing them to travel to places without having to take forever drivint there. Ben continues slurping at his smoothy, until Rook pops the question, asking if Ben actually thinks that he is cool. Ben tells him that he is indeed cool, but tells him that he has to get used to human slang, in order to understand how modern day humans talk. Rook would then ask about Alien X, believing it to be none other than a rumour, before Ben debunks it, informing him about Alien X's existence being real. Rook begs Ben to turn into Alien X, however Ben doesn't go along with this plan, as he tells him that Alien X is not worth having, and how he has to argue with both Bellicus and Serena if he were to become the Celestialsapien.

After a few seconds of awkward silence, Ben asks about Rook's identity. Rook reveals to Ben that he comes from the planet Revonnah, and is a Revonnahgander, a cat-like species who are famers and eat a fruit-like food named Amber Ogia. Intrigued, Ben asks more about Rook's species. Rook reveals more about his species, giving him information about the culture of Revonnah Kai, and how he was taught traditionally by a teacher of his. By then, Ben grows more content to Rook, who is happy to call Ben his partner, as Ben would apologise to how he spoke to Rook the night before. Rook then forgives him, knowing that Ben wasn't content to him before, as he calls him his partner. The Proto-TRUK continues to fly off, ending the episode.
